Job Summary:

Ski Lift Operators are responsible for the safety of our guests while they are loading, riding and unloading our chairlifts. The Lift Operations team is responsible for creating a welcoming first and last impression by courteously and effectively interacting with guests while assisting them on and off the chairlifts. The Operator must assist in keeping the load, unload and maze areas well-groomed which often requires them to shovel large amounts of snow frequently throughout the day, and be outside in variable weather conditions for extended periods of time. Starting pay for this position is $12.25/hour. Previous experience is not necessarily required for this job. If you have the right attitude and want to work with our team, we will train you!

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Adopt, embrace and foster the policies and dynamic culture of our team, resort and company.
  • Understand the ANSI B77.1 Code as it pertains to the daily operation of ski lifts.
  • Help our guests feel welcome, safe and valued while utilizing our lift system.
  • Must be safety conscious and able to make quick decisions.
  • Must be able to work independently or in a small team to accomplish daily job related tasks.
  • Complete all necessary/required daily chair lift logs and forms.
  • Assist in snow removal, setup/tear-down and routine maintenance of lift areas.
  • Be outside on the loading and unloading decks interacting with our guests and physically assisting them with the process.
  • Adhere to uniform and grooming standards at all times.
  • Maintain the highest housekeeping standards, ensuring a groomed, uncluttered, litter-free environment.
  • Keep your head on a swivel - be aware of, and adapt to, changes in your surroundings and environment.
  • Adapt to changing business levels to ensure that the guests are getting the most efficient and safe experience.
  • Support other departments to ensure everyone is being safe, having fun and getting their work done.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old - Required
  • Must like to have fun and work well in a team environment - Required
  • Must be punctual and dependable - Required
  • Ski or snowboard at an Intermediate level - Preferred but NOT required

 

Requirements:

  • Any skis and/or snowboards used on the clock must pass a function test.
  • Helmets are required when skiing or riding on the clock.
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends and be willing to pick up extra shifts if needed.
  • Must be able to stand outside in various types of mountain weather for extended periods of time.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to walk, stand, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, sit, stoop, balance, ski and/or snowboard, climb and hike in and over steep, winter terrain. The employee will reach with hands and arms to manipulate small items with gloved hands; operate a manual shovel; swing and carry hand tools, equipment, and personal supplies. The employee may regularly lift up to 40 pounds alone and may occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; and inclement weather and mountain environmental conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:

This is a Winter Resort Area. Work venues vary in ambient temperatures and weather conditions and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level is usually loud; the employee is regularly exposed to high volume power tools and machinery. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom of the area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chairlift(s), skis, snowboard, snowmobile or other company vehicle. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and/or slippery. Proper footwear is required, indoors and out. Work days and hours may vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
