SUMMARY OF JOB:

The Vail Resorts Communications & Marketing Team is committed to delivering on Vail Resorts mission of creating an Experience of a Lifetime by promoting, protecting, and activating the resort brand and experience.

 

The Field Marketing Manager is responsible for many different aspects of promoting their resort, including content capture, in-resort messaging, promotions, activations and events, and working cross-functionally with Marketing & PR teams alike to serve as the on-the-ground marketing representative for their resort, in a highly-matrixed model.  As part of the resort-based Field Marketing & Communications Team, s/he are primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of ensuring the manifestation of the resort’s brand as part of the in-resort guest experience

 

This role will also partner with the resort-based PR and Content teams to assist with promotion of the resort via Marketing and PR channels, including, but not limited to, content capture, hosting brand and photo shoots with third party creative and content vendors, assisting with content management of resort platforms such as social media and website content, and other Marketing and PR related duties as needed.  In addition, this role will work closely with the centralized Brand Strategy teams based at Vail Resorts headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado, to host Brand Content shoots, facilitate the flow of content from the resort location into the centralized content and creative teams, create in-resort brand messaging and signage, and activate in-resort executions of Brand promotions, following stringent brand guidelines.

 

The Field Marketing Manager will report to Senior Manager of Communications.  The ideal candidate must be good communicator that is able to give and take positive feedback, as well as effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and prioritize workflow. He/she will have will have their hands in many different types of projects and be responsible for delivering results safely on-time in a very fast-paced environment. Flexibility and a positive attitude are crucial, as well as the ability to delegate and direct vendors, contractors and partners to be able to execute with excellence.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and execute all in-resort messaging, signage, and guest-facing promotional materials.
  • Assist with content capture and promotion of the resort, via internal Content Specialist, as well as via external content and creative vendors and contractors to facilitate in-resort photo and video shoot.
  • Assist field-based PR teams with hosting of journalists and other Communications duties as needed.
  • Assist with management of resort digital platforms, including content contribution for Social Media and website as needed.
  • Develop strategy for the brand activation & event elements that will bring the brand to life in resort to elevate the guest experience.
  • Galvanize and manage various internal and external operational departments and staffs to be able to execute special events, activations and signature experiences.
  • Negotiate contracts, site fees and relationships with external companies and organizations.
  • Occasional direct external agencies and contractors, vendors, partners and event staff as needed in order to execute activations, events and brand experiences.
  • Work closely with Vail Resorts Strategic Alliance department and company sponsors to execute sponsorship activations.
  • Partner with the field-based Marketing & PR team, as well as the centralized Resort Brand Strategy team, on various other elements of fulfilling on overall marketing strategy and execution initiatives.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Journalism, Communications or Marketing
  • 5+ years of experience in an external communications or PR role, and experience with marketing
  • Events experience required
  • Excellent writer able to draft nuanced communications on a variety of topics
  • Strong background as a Brand Generalist, with a “can-do” attitude, and passion for bringing their resort brand to life across many different projects, programs and executions.
  • Can seamlessly execute on multiple, overlapping projects at once
  • Self-starter who can adapt to change and effectively navigate through ambiguity; decides and acts without having the picture totally defined; appropriately changes strategy in response to new information
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including ability to work with people from various cultures and areas of the business; builds and maintains highly effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Incorporates a critical set of responsibilities covering a wide range, including the ability to activate success across multiple stakeholders and departments, as well as working closely with internal operational departments and vendors, as well as with various town/local/community groups and organizations.
  • Team player – strives for collective success.
