Job Summary: 
The Grooming Manager is responsible for all management functions, including departmental oversight, working within the budget, safety, training and staffing for the Grooming and Trail Maintenance Departments. This involves planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This a Full-Time Year-Round position responsible for the maintenance and mowing of trails during the summer. Direct supervision is received from the Senior Manager of Snow Surfaces.

 

Job Specifications:

  • The budgeted range starts at $58,000 - $71,000 + annual bonus + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience
  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time, Year Round

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direction, leadership and expertise to the Mount Snow Grooming operation across all 3 shifts (day, swing and grave).
  • Hire, train and schedule staff
  • Organize and delegate daily workload to the lead groomers to ensure direction is given to all grooming staff.
  • Supervises performance management and evaluations of the grooming operation.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all mandated company and department policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with snowmaking department to align on snow planning and resort objectives.
  • Create and oversee departmental budgets while tracking performance to expectations
  • Coordinate and assist with summer brushback and mowing
  • Assist with on-mountain summer construction projects, specifically regarding stormwater management, revegetation and as built mapping of utilities.
  • Occasionally operate heavy equipment as required, i.e. snow removal equipment, excavators, forklifts, and mowing equipment.

Job Requirements:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a groomer or winch cat operator
  • Previous mechanical or heavy equipment experience
  • Advanced knowledge of resort trail network, snow characteristics and grooming equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Minimum 3 years in supervising staff in some type of capacity
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Advanced skier/snowboarder with the ability to inspect all terrain

 

The expected pay range is $58,000 - $71,000 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
