Job Summary:  Join our Mountain Dining team as a General Manager, responsible for general oversight of your location. This position will ensure all Mountain Dining standards are upheld while providing an extraordinary dining experience for the Kirkwood resort guest. The General Manager position is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the restaurant.

 

Location Description: The Cornice is located across from “The Village”, the heart of Kirkwood Mountain Resort. This 60-seat semi-service restaurant is open 5 months out of the year, offering fast-casual dinner options and a full bar during the ski season. The Cornice menu features pizza parlor favorites and has a laid-back sports bar style dining experience.

  • Expected Pay Range: Annual based salary starting at $66,560.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the restaurant staff to ensure high-quality guest service and experience; maintains a high standard for overall lodge/restaurant appearance and cleanliness.
  • Pro-actively manages location’s financial performance through monitoring of financial reporting, participation in annual budget review process and monthly financial reviews. Responsible for driving contribution margin through appropriate management of labor, operating and cost of goods expense.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary AGM to ensure proper inventory counts, ordering, and menu design/redesign.
  • Consistently completes and/or oversees operational audits to ensure location is operating to standards.
  • Responsible for completion of necessary daily financial paperwork and location opening/closing procedures.
  • Responsible for collaborating with location leadership team to schedule with considerations to business volume and labor budgets; Accurate management of employee time and labor.
  • Coaching and monitoring FOH and BOH staff to uphold company and resort standards.
  • Follow all Environmental Health guidelines, Serve Safe best practices, and Vail Resorts safety standards.
  • Maintain consistent and meaningful communication with staff through meetings, emails, and 1 on 1 conversations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years previous food and beverage management experience
  • Serve Safe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within first 30 days of hire)
  • Tips certification, RBS certification, and Food Handler certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Intermediate computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite, POS software, Ordering software, payroll software.
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills.

 

Other job duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Snow removal/snow blower training is a requirement. Snow removal maintenance of your facility MUST be executed daily especially during storm cycles.
  • Involvement with various internal departments and committees as deemed appropriate by management.
  • Flexibility to assist in other Mountain Dining operations if/when needed.
  • Ability to attend work in winter weather environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. 
  • Ability to work well and communicate with others in a fast-paced environment under pressure. 
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English. 

 

The expected pay range is $66,560 - $75,355 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
