Job Summary:
The Sr. Specialist of Health and Safety will assist in setting strategy, leading, and planning all aspects of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) within their function. This position will work closely with EHS leadership, resort operations, and corporate leadership to create, build, implement, and sustain an Environmental, Health and Safety culture that achieves world-class safety performance. This position will work cross-functionally to support and cultivate safety programs and ensure they are properly vetted, on schedule, and on budget. This position may collaborate with external partners, community leaders, and regulators in supporting the resort as well as the company’s core value of: Be Safe.

- Location: This position will be based at White Haven, PA (Jack Frost & Big Boulder Resort).
Job Responsibilities:
- Influence and support the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) strategy to achieve world-class EHS performance within the travel and leisure industry. Responsible for the strategy and management of:
- Completing audits and assessments.
- Ensuring compliance of resort & enterprise safety programs.
- Advising and coaching front line, department, and resorts leaders on Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives.
- Be an unbiased leader and voice for resort leadership to ensure understanding of the risks and opportunities to drive, improve, and then maintain superior safety performance.
- Understand the core business needs and in doing so adjust safety strategy to the business.
- Address compliance and regulatory safety as well as risk management trends and regulatory focus areas as directed by the Senior Manager and/or Director.
- Engage, as required, with local, state, and federal officials as necessary to support EHS Compliance and best practices.
- Communicate across a variety of stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Identify and execute projects in coordination with Sr. Manager.
- Be a model for leadership development on the EHS Team.
- Advise and support the Regional EHS Senior Manager, and all operations including but not limited to: Mountain Division, Security, Environmental, Sustainability, Hospitality, and Retail.
- Partner with Environmental Compliance for day-to-day management and support, as designated by Environmental Compliance and EHS leadership.
- Responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety programing and oversight for multiple resort locations within Pennsylvania, beyond immediate location.
- 30-50% travel to assigned resorts in the region.
- Other duties or tasks, as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, or advanced degree in Environmental, Health & Safety preferred.
- 1-3 years’ experience working in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field.
- Supervisory Experience: safety committees, teams, or equivalent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams.
- Intermediate to advanced skier or snowboarder.
- Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety practices.
Preferred:
- Preferred Skills or Competencies: Experience analyzing, and advising on safety data analytics. Familiarity with data collection platforms: Tableau, Enablon, Smartsheets, etc.
- Experience leading and implementing change management across a variety of stakeholders.
- ASP, GSP, CSP or equivalent experience in professional safety.
- Operational experience in the winter sports industry or other ski area operations (not required).
The expected Total Compensation for this role is $56,485 - $71,874.28. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
