Job Summary

The Adults/Private Lesson Ski and Ride School Senior Manager will lead all aspects of the Adult/Private Lesson and Training operations of the Heavenly Ski and Ride School, as well as support other Skier Services departments as needed. The scope of this role is large and varied and includes responsibilities around the daily, seasonal, and yearly operational processes and strategic goals specific to Ski and Ride School products/lessons. This position requires a disciplined focus on quality control, guest relations, sales generation, staff performance development, financial responsibility, communication, teamwork, administrative duties and self-development. All of these elements contribute in a significant way to the overall quality of the guest and employee experience. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Skier Services, the Children’s Ski and Ride School Senior Manager, and Training Manager to ensure all payroll, workers compensation, incident reports, staffing levels, inventory levels, disciplinary procedures, training, hiring and separating procedures and all other administrative functions are managed efficiently and timely. This leadership position is integral to the success of the Ski and Ride School and Heavenly.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coach, motivate, develop, and retain an industry-leading Adults/Private Lesson Ski and Ride School leadership team. Ensure leadership team is aligned with the goals and values of Heavenly Mountain Resort and Vail Resorts.
  • Responsible for the financial management of all Ski and Ride School Adult/Private Lesson and Training operations, including assisting on budget development, achieving revenue goals, and labor and lesson ratio management.
  • Work with the Director of Skier Services and the Children’s Senior Manager to meet or exceed all Guest Service, Safety and Financial goals. 
  • Oversee Ski and Ride School Training and the Ski and Ride School Training Manager to ensure staff training matches the school culture and goals.  Work with Training Manager to develop a curriculum of training that fosters growth and professionalism.
  • Ensure that the Adult/Private Lesson Ski and Ride School leadership team coach and develop instructors and support staff, and complete timely performance reviews. 
  • Work closely with the Product Sales and Services Team to coordinate Ski and Ride School sales and check-in locations, sales strategies, inventory control, relevancy of products, and exceptional guest experiences. 
  • Monitor and maintain quality and appearance of buildings, sales facilities - both on the mountain and at the base area, organizational yard, signage and program imaging, teaching terrain, and locker rooms, as well as any other duties as assigned.
  • Be proactively involved in enterprise-wide best practice efforts.
  • Partner, support and work collaboratively with the other managers within Skier Services departments and summer operations to provide industry leading service around products and programs.
  • Partner and collaborate with internal Heavenly Mountain Resort departments to ensure a consistent and high-level experience for the guests and employees.
  • Other responsibilities/duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

  • PSIA/ASIA level 2 certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of Ski and Ride School leadership experience.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Basic accounting and finance skills.
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Standing for long periods of time and handle exposure to inclement weather, bending, lifting, and squatting.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • PSIA/AASI Level 3 certification or equivalent.
  • Competent use of RPOS, including Ski School Tools, RPOS Report Shell, ProConnect and Customer Manager, People Soft and Success Factors.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Previous Vail Resorts Ski and Ride School location manager or greater management experience.

 

 

The expected pay range is $74,300 - $91,210 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
