Job Summary: The Lift Maintenance Team Lead will oversee a team of 8 mechanics that diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair all lift and gondola equipment as well as perform preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate has previous experience with the operational and mechanical oversight of detachable and fixed grip lifts, rigging, some electrical troubleshooting, and all line equipment.  Candidate must be a self-starter with a commitment to safety and passion for the ski industry. Position is full-time year-round with benefits. 
 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist manager in assuring all lifts under your supervision are in compliance with Cal OSHA, ANSI, USFS, insurance carriers, and Vail Resorts policies and procedures.
  • To be the working lead mechanic and manage the mechanics that are responsible for a group of lifts including detachable and fixed grip chairs, surface lifts, and the Gondola.
  • Assist in the tracking of the maintenance budget for your group of lifts
  • Develop a training program for structured ongoing training of maintenance personnel
  • Scheduling of personnel and upkeep of timely labor reports
  • Must maintain reasonable levels of spare parts to ensure full repair capability
  • Insure that the maintenance manager is informed and consulted on all unusual conditions, incidents, observations, or system malfunctions
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the personnel reporting to you are in compliance with all Vail Resorts regulations and policies
  • Responsible for recording all information of work performed on lifts and submitting records in a timely manner.
  • Set out and schedule annual maintenance work and delegate work assignments. Monitor and assess progress and make necessary adjustments to complete all work on time.
  • Identify talent and implement an organized and structured training and development program for succession within the team. Establish chain of command and designate leaders with in the team.
  • Respond, as assigned, to lift failures to productively resolve these situations in a timely manner.
  • Keep an up to date failure analysis
  • Assist in the ongoing training and support of seasonal lift operations
  • Must maintain all tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Responsible for all parts ordering
  • Support the Senior Manager and Director of Lift Maintenance to uphold the culture of the Department and Vail Resorts Policies and Procedures. Be an outspoken leader and instill the highest standards of Safety, Service, and Employee Engagement for the Resort.

 

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Strong knowledge in desktop computer systems and applications.
  • Read, write, and speak English
  • Must have the interpersonal skills to be able to communicate in an effective and positive way with your own employees, guests, and employees from other departments while maintaining the Core Values of the Company.
  • Expert in troubleshooting lift failures
  • Intermediate skier is preferred but not required
