Job Summary

The Base Area Operator Lead is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first impression to our guests by delivering a safe, efficient, and engaging parking experience. The position oversees daily parking operations while offering expert advice regarding resort information, directions, and product knowledge. The Base Area Operator Lead is present for the duration of mountain operations, maintaining the consistency and efficiency of the parking lot, and serves as a supportive presence for departing guests. Job Specifications:  

  • Starting Wage:  $21 / hour
  • Shift & Schedule Availability:  Full Time and Part Time
  • Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced  


Essential Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Become knowledgeable about the resort, location specifics, events, and activities in order to answer guest inquiries.
  • Create and exemplify a fun and professional work experience while communicating in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Lead and motivate team members – inspire a culture of safety, professionalism and fun!
  • Work with Base Area Operations Team Lead to ensure consistent staffing of parking attendants
  • Adapt to rapidly changing operations and changes in business volume.
  • Ability to handle high volumes of customer interaction while delivering an exceptional parking experience.
    Adhere to and enforce all parking policies, procedures, and safety regulations. 
  • Monitor and multi-task to keep all traffic flowing safely both in and out of the parking lots.
  • Process payment transactions for parking charges; includes reconciling the balances, performing opening/closing duties, and maintaining all SOX compliance.
  • Resolve guest parking problems with the highest level of care.
  • Uphold all company/department policies & procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, well groomed, and professional appearance as frontline staff.
  • Participate in resort, departmental trainings, and development courses to better enhance the guest experience.
  • Take initiative to perform duties which facilitate operations.



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid US Driver's License

  • Able to remain stationary for long periods of time;
  • Able to work in all weather conditions including snow and sunshine;
  • Able to work flexible shifts including all weekends and holidays.
  • Previous experience in Guest Services at Vail Resorts preferred
  • Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English
  • Ability to develop a quick rapport with guests
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful situations and remain focused, engaged in both slow and fast-paced environments
  • Ability to execute required responsibilities in an unsupervised environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of computers and mobile devices
  • Fun, outgoing, and engaging personality traits
  • Experienced and/or conversational in a foreign language
  • 1 year or more Guest Service experience
  • 1 year cash handling experience



The budgeted range starts at $21.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
