Job Summary:

The Referral Specialist is responsible for driving traffic and sales within specific geographic regions to Vail Resorts Retail rental/retail stores and online ecommerce sites. This roles primary focus is to identify, develop, and manage business develop opportunities between VRR, hospitality (both owned and operated as well as 3rd party), resort and community partners as well as other VR lines of business to drive both walk-in and close-in reservations and sales from guests. The Referral Specialist will create meaningful connections through strong relationship management between our brands and our customers through strategic, targeted and personalized efforts. This person must be a good communicator who is able to give and take feedback, collaborate with team members and community partners, and prioritize workflow. He/she will have their hands in many different types of projects and be responsible for delivering results on-time in a fast paced environment. Flexibility and a positive attitude are crucial as well as the ability to make data-informed decisions to drive the business.


Job Specifications:

  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time / Year Round
  • Outlet: Postion will cover both Tahoe and Park City
  • Location: Postion will be based out of Tahoe, preferrably Heavenly Resort
  • The budgeted range starts at $55,000- $65,000.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Build, strengthen and create new relationships with lodging and other in-resort parties to strengthen and grow retail and rental referral business through sales-orientated partnerships with area lodging entities.
  • Effectively manage multiple stakeholder relationships to capture rental market share from competitors with a focus on driving walk-in and close-in (online reservations) from in-resort guests.
  • Work with leadership to recognize opportunities, trends and develop new initiatives with the goal of driving incremental sales. 
  • Create a schedule of focused visits to new and/or low performing partners to increase engagement. Maintain cadence of strategic visits to key partners.
  • Develop seasonal strategy for the region including sales goals, budgets, media plan and creative, strategic promotions, and local event participation.
  • Work closely with Vail Resorts Retail operations team to achieve year-round business goals through unique opportunities such as contractually-bound rental referral partnerships and/or opportunities to open satellite rental locations/clubs inside partner properties. 
  • Consult on annual approach around referral commission structure, rental pricing, discount and promotional strategy, with a specific focus on the needs of your market.
  • Confirm reported monthly walk up and pre booked sales for referral members, ensure correct commission structures are applied.
  • Resolve problems that arise such as Referral Member complaints, incorrect equipment orders, reporting and system errors.
  • Coordinate with marketing the design of referral cards, promo materials for the program, store events and other division initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain awareness of other referral competition and generate feedback for progress where necessary. 
  • Plan and execute Partner Appreciation Events.
  • Create pricing spreadsheets and marketing collateral for In-Resort partners.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 1 years’ experience in marking and/or sales (retail and partnership marketing preferred)
  • Experience with Word Suite, advanced excel skills required
  • Strong communicator that is able to provide and receive feedback Strong team player
  • Able to work in a fast past environment and prioritize changing objectives
  • High degree of organizational skills and attention to detail


The expected pay range is $55,000 - $65,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
