Heavenly Sports is located off Ski Run Blvd at Heavenly’s California Main Lodge in South Lake Tahoe. This lodge has an onsite employee center, employee parking lot, and shuttle access from Transit Center and Employee Housing. The building has lift access on site and is shared with other departments such as Food and Beverage, Rental, Ski School, as well as Ticket/Pass Sales. We work in a high-volume, two-story store which carries ski and snowboard hardgoods, apparel and accessories. We have a seasonal team of 10-20 experienced boot fitters and sales associate with a high retention rate. Our average customers are both employees and guests. Our team enjoys our flexible schedule allowing for ski/ride breaks and store hours that reflect the mountain’s hours of operations.

 

Job Summary:

The role of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist in leading sales, staff, operational and merchandising functions of the store to maximize profitability, efficiency and both employee and guest experience. This position is full-time year-round.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Role-model and administer company policies and guidelines.
  • Assess status of the sales floor and employees; Ability to proactively adjust as needed.
  • Maintain a professional standard of merchandising and guest service to generate sales.
  • Provide training resources in POS, product knowledge, guest service, resort information, and sales (GUIDE Technique).
  • Remain current on new industry products and trends; Demonstrate knowledge of products.
  • Manage inventory controls; meet or exceed inventory goals by enforcing loss prevention policies.
  • Communicate ideas and opportunities with Store Manager, external partners and supporting leadership.
  • Enforce company health and safety guidelines.
  • Share time and labor responsibilities with Store Manager.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach and retain quality core staff.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for and coach development of staff on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate frequently with co-workers and guests in spoken and written English required.
  • Basic computer literacy such as Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Previous retail/hospitality experience preferred
  • Understanding of industry products and trends preferred
  • Familiarity with rental/retail POS system preferred
