Heavenly Ski Patrol's primary responsibility is to provide and promote a safe environment for our guests and employees as well as to provide exceptional guest service. Ski Patrol is responsible for executing essential guest service functions such as responding to medical emergencies on the mountain, transporting injured guests off the mountain to the appropriate facility, and general hill safety. Ski patrol is also responsible for enforcing safe skiing and riding practices and enforcement of the Skier's and Rider's Responsibility Code. Special circumstances include chairlift and gondola evacuation, avalanche control, and explosives handling. Other duties can be assigned as needed. Ski patrol is a highly visible role on the mountain with a great deal of guest interaction.

Intermediate level responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
·         Must have a minimum of one year patrolling experience
·         NREMT or current California state EMT certification 
·         Must have the ability to lift 50lbs
·         Must have the ability to stand outside in changing winter conditions for extended periods of time
·         Ability to ski at an expert level on all terrain, in all weather conditions
·         Monitoring and promoting guest safety 
·         Provide exceptional guest service
·         Assisting injured guests on the mountain and administering first aid
·         Transporting injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan 
·         Performing sweeps at the end of the day to ensure that all guests are safely off the mountain
·         Maintaining trails, identifying and mitigating hazards 
·         Transporting and setting up mountain safety equipment
·         Transporting supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need on skis
·         Participation in continued on the job training program
·         Avalanche control including safely transporting and placing explosives on the mountain and stabilizing snowpack on skis
·         Driving snowmobiles to various areas of the mountain as needed
Advanced level responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
·         All criteria listed for Intermediate level, plus:
o    Strong working knowledge and experience with snow safety
o    Assist with in house training
o    Attend advanced out of area trainings as assigned
o    Possession of advanced skills/certifications such as snow science and technical rope rescue training, etc.
