Job Summary:  

The Specialist Lift Operations is a  supervisory position focusing on whole department while tending to daily details. Familiarity with Vail platforms hiring, onboarding, underage paperwork, compliance (track lift badges & LIFT training), perform & document lift audits, establish permissions for scanning team, assist with pre-season training, Legion, scheduling, familiar with maze set up, emphasis on teaching staff to provide guests with a positive, safe experience.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Wage Range:  $22.00 - 24.00 / hour

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting the Manager and Assistant Manager in overseeing the department
  • Participate in classroom and on-the-job training for lift operators and ensure training documents are kept current.
  • Be responsible for timely completion of training and development documentation for staff, attend required management skills classes and be a contributing and accountable member of our management team.
  • Provide leadership development education for Leads, as well as developing Operators interested in becoming Leads.
  • Coordinates and assists in daily setup, and routine maintenance of lift areas.
  • Design and build mazes and screeds at the lifts, top, and bottom
  • Oversight, collection, and auditing of lift logs to ensure proper completion.
  • Responsible for coordinating opening and closing procedures, and all daily operating tasks of the crew.
  • Promote neat, clean, and organized workstations and lift shacks. 
  • Assist with the development of department strategic plans.
  • Demonstrate exemplary attendance, punctuality, behavior, and grooming/appearance standards. 
  • Assist with conducting interviews for Operators and Leads as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Will be responsible for assisting with weather closures, documenting downtime, and providing guest service during closures.
  • Works closely with ski patrol, mountain safety, lift maintenance, and lift electric to assist and resolve any problems that may arise on the mountain.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Operate some equipment including an all-terrain vehicle/snowmobile
  • Ability to work in all climates
  • Climb and work at heights
     

Job Requirements:

  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Previous Lift Operations or Lift Maintenance Experience, minimum of 1 year
  • Ability to set work schedules
  • Must be able to adhere to an early morning starting time.
  • Experience working in a winter environment preferred.
  • Some carpentry skills preferred
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at a level 5 ability if necessary
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Minimum of 2 years of managing a crew of 10 or more subordinates
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • You must provide your own ski or ride gear.  We provide a uniform and helmet for use while working.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude with co-workers and guests.
  • Exceptional communication skills; Ability to lead a team to a successful season.
  • Exceptional guest service skills; Ability to work in a very fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

 

The expected pay range is $22.00 - $24.00. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
