The Lift Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting and working closely with the Lift Maintenance team in performing maintenance tasks and repairs. The ideal candidate for this position should be a self-starter and perform well under pressure with minimal supervision.  Job duties include cleaning, assisting in repairs, preventative maintenance, operating lift equipment, tower maintenance, visual inspections during our operating season, winter start-up of lifts, grip overhauls, and assisting the Lift Operations team.  Duties are performed in all types of environments both indoors and outdoors. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that the Lift Maintenance management team and Lift Dispatch is informed and consulted on all abnormal conditions, incidents, observations or system malfunctions. Lift Maintenance team members are charged with the responsibility of following all Vail Resorts Health and Safety policies and procedures as well as Beaver Creek Lift Maintenance policies. Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must possess high standards of reliability and conduct - Required
  • Must be open to a flexible schedule, and be able to work weekends - Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent - Required 
  • Valid unrestricted US driver's license - Required 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older - Required 
  • Ability to read, write, speak, comprehend and understand English fluently - Required 
  • Strong communication and team skills - Required 
  • Ability to work at heights of 100 ft. or more - Required  
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather environments - Required 
  • Ability to work in dirty conditions - Required 
  • Familiar with basic hand tools and shop equipment - Required
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a mechanical field - Required 
  • Minimum 1 full season in lift operations - Required 
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems required (at least 1 year of experience) - Required 
  • Ability to lift up to or more than 100 lbs. regularly - Required 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to 4 hours without sitting - Required 
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to feel, reach - Required 
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, crawl, and crouch - Required 
  • Holidays, weekends, evenings as necessary - Required 
  • In-person interview and resume - Required 
  • Previous grip rebuilding - Preferred 
  • Working knowledge of Doppelmayr and CTEC chairlifts - Required
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and snowmobiles - Required
  • Intermediate level skier/snowboarder – strongly preferred
