This year-round role is a hybrid of two seasonal positions:  Maintenance Technician & Snowmaking/Grooming.


The Maintenance Tech at Mt. Brighton performs entry level maintenance work in at least several of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, mechanical, equipment operation, cabinet/countertop/trim/drywall installation, HVAC, etc.   The focus is exceptional guest service, safety awareness, and efficient operations throughout the resort.  



  • Complete work orders, attend to guest issues, and complete roles and responsibilities assigned by the Sr. Mountain Manager in a safe and timely manner
  • Perform daily rounds of facilities to check: furnaces, common areas, air conditioning units, water softener system, fire panels
  • Maintain all Facilities and Operating Systems in a safe and efficient working order (ie. Auto doors, exit doorways, required snow/ garbage removal)
  • Assists others/team with more complex tasks
  • Work with outside contractors to provide necessary improvements or maintenance as directed
  • Maintain records of all work activities and support materials; provide written reports to other departments as needed
  • Maintains personal safety and team safety by preparing for all activities and using PPE devices and providing for the safe disposal of all waste material
  • Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles and keep work area in safe, secure and efficient manner
  • Ensuring maintenance equipment is operated safely and in compliance with standards and policies
  • Conduct the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment
  • Fulfills day-to-day work responsibilities for the organization as needed, and exhibits the highest level of expertise in all areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.


The Grooming Team and Snowmaking Team either operate snow cats to produce continuous smooth and groomed surface and proper patterns for the ski area and/or provides safe and efficient snow production.  Knowledgeable about the safety, CAT operating guidelines, and mountain layout, Grooming Operators follow grooming patterns using multiple types of snow cats and perform specific skills for trails, lift ramps, and mazes.  The Grooming Team is responsible for nightly slope preparation and hauling duties.  The Snowmaking Team monitors snow production and quality while assisting with loading, transporting and setting up snowmaking equipment in specific mountain locations. 



  • Perform as a skilled groomer operator, responsible for performing more complex tasks involved in trail maintenance, grooming and snow cat operation.
  • Be capable of operating all types of snow cats while using blade and dozing skills to develop the slope of man-made snow.
  • Follow and enforce safety guidelines for grooming and snow production.



  • Must be at least 18 years of age – Required
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License – Required
  • Previous heavy equipment or machinery experience – Preferred
  • Must be willing to work late evenings, holidays and weekends – Required
  • 1-2 yrs previous experience in maintaining facilities
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems
  • Independent contributor with the ability to work well in a team; demonstrates responsibility for self and others in timeliness and task completion.
  • Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness
  • Ability to perform in a variable, multi-faceted environment with the ability to multi-task while remaining calm in potentially stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form (in English), including speaking clearly on the Mountain Radio.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position including: working outside in inclement weather; climbing in and out of a snow cat; sit for long periods of time while operating a snow cat; lift more than 50lbs
  • High School graduation or equivalent – Preferred

  • Reaching – 1/3 of the time
  • Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, Crawl – 1/3 of the time
