Job Summary:

The Assistant Equipment Manager reports directly to the Director of Golf Course Maintenance / Golf Course Superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.  The program includes all repair of failing equipment, record keeping of parts and labor, procurement of parts and supplies needed. The Asst. equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or assistant superintendent.  The Asst. Equipment Manager places safety as a top priority and is resposible for maintaining an extremely clean/organized service area and maintenance facility.  

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, diagnosis and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including but not limited to, diesel-, electric- and gasoline powered automobiles, trucks, tractors, mowers, utility vehicles and other mechanical equipment used in the daily project work
  • Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work
  • Sustains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, purchases, repair parts and replacemen supplies.
  • Assists in the instruction and training of golf course maintenance personnel regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
  • Keeps detailed records for equipment parts and inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Spot checks equipment frequently for performance on the golf course. Makes emergency repairs to equipment on thegolf course and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
  • Oversees the shop area maintenance and upkeep
  • Regulates employees’ use of equipment in the absence of the superintendent and assistant superintendent if needed, and performs a multitude of other duties as directed by the superintendent.
  • Some purchasing and budgetary oversight with regard to repair and maintenance of equipment/facilities
  • Winter plow resposibilities
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, mechanic certifications are a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of golf equipment maintenance/management experience
  • Proficiency in the repair of gasoline & diesel engines.
  • Reel and bedknife grinding proficiency is desirable
  • A minimum 1-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Valid drivers license
  • Proficiency with- Word, Excel and Powerpoint preferred.
  • English profeciency is preferred
  • Must have knowledge and experience with troubleshooting/repair of hydraulic and
    electrical systems.
  • Welding/fabrication proficiency

 

The expected pay range is $65,000 - $70,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
