Job Summary:

The Irrigation Technician works under the guidance of the First Assistant Superintendent, the Superintendent, and the Golf Maintenance Director. The Irrigation Technician will be involved in all aspects of irrigation maintenance and repair for the golf course and clubhouse irrigation system. Responsibilities also include operating utility vehicles and assorted maintenance equipment (riding and hand-operated mowers, carts, tractors, etc.), raking grounds, shoveling, operating hand tools (chainsaws, trimmers, and mowers), watering trees and turf. Assist in fertilizer and chemical applications. Must have the ability to work outside in variable conditions (heat, rain, snow, cold, wind), as well as the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb, balance, kneel, crawl and crouch.  Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, monitor and program all facets of the irrigation system including irrigation heads, controllers, PVC pipe, HDPE pipe, valves, pumps, and injection units.
  • Ability to complete work assignments in a clean and timely manner.
  • Enforces safe working conditions with all assignments related to his or her expected tasks.
  • Constantly monitors the irrigation system and reports problems and conditions to the First Assistant and/or Superintendent.
  • Ensures proper use, cleanliness, and security of maintenance facilities and equipment.
     
    Other Functions:
  • Ability to fill in for other golf maintenance positions when necessary.
  • Working as a team player with members of the maintenance, clubhouse, and management groups.
  • Properly representing Red Sky Ranch and Vail Resorts.
     
    Organizational Relationship:
    The Irrigation Technician will report directly to the Course Superintendent, and in his absence, the Assistant Superintendent or the Golf Maintenance Director.
     
    Customer Service/Guest Relations:

The Irrigation Technician will have daily interaction with members and guests.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of a high school diploma necessary, turf degree or similar preferred

 

Knowledge:

  • Advanced working knowledge of irrigation system installation, repair and troubleshooting
  • Requires knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices, and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
  • Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in irrigation repair and installation, as well as general golf course maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to operate mowers, trucks, and light motorized equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Experience:

Must have previous golf course irrigation system maintenance experience.

Must have documented previous golf course experience with reference information available.

Prior RainBird irrigation system experience is preferred

 

 

The expected pay range is $22.00 - $24.49. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
