Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $15 per hour
  • Effective October 2022 minimum wage will be increased to $20 per hour
  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time

 

As a Lift Operations Specialist you are responsible for the department’s supervision and development. You will take ownership of the performance of each individual operator. Your duty is to manage expectations and personal accountability regarding safety, customer service and operational excellence. You must maintain the highest degree of cooperation with your peers by collaborating, coordinating and incorporating new lessons and activities for the new training initiative. This role is designed for current employees with management skills seeking leadership advancement with Vail Resorts.


A Day in the life of a Training Specialist:

  • Supervision of 70+ staff member’s. Conduct lessons and perform educational courses which must be documented.
  • Observe and audit staff, identifying weaknesses and strengths of performances and providing mentorship
  • Enhance guest experience, problem resolves with guest issues, and service recovery
  • Operation of chairlift equipment adhering to all applicable codes and safety regulations (ANSI)
  • Work extensively interdepartmentally to establish improved relations between Lift Ops and other departments.
  • Train how to use a variety of tools to reshape snow surfaces to specification. Keep track of the department’s inventory and maintain the working condition of our equipment.
  • Help the managers with ordering supplies
  • Observe and improve the loading techniques of new employees to ensure the highest degree of safety for our guests including kids on lifts initiative
  • Train and supervise proper opening procedure and maze set-up. Responsible for ANSI and Company “Best Practice” initiative education.
  • Assist the auditing process of maze accuracy, grooming standards, and attendance.
  • Correctly coach and discipline when needed. Work closely with the Team Leads to complete all documentation according to HR expectations
  • Attend Leadership Terrain courses and department specific management sessions.
  • Advise and mentor Team Leads with schedule writing, safety meetings and other Foreman responsibilities.
  • Assist managers with administrative tasks, hiring and onboarding.

 
 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 3-4 years Lift Operations experience
  • Supervisory/Management Experience
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Be able to work up to 10 hours in all winter weather conditions 
  • Ability to lift and carry 100lbs
  • Excellent guest service
  • Must be a current Vail Resorts employee
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, comprehend and understand English fluently
  • Ability to work the entire length of the season
