Summer Ski Patrol is responsible for executing essential guest service functions such as responding to medical emergencies on the mountain, transporting injured guests off the mountain to the appropriate facility, and general hill safety. Ski patrol is a highly visible role on the mountain with a great deal of guest interaction.

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must have a minimum of one year patrolling experience
  • Current OEC, EMT or WFR
  • Ability to property and safely use, or learn to use, brush cutting equipment including but not limited to chain and other types of saws, weed-whacker, mulcher, and ax.   Previous experience in using such equipment preferred.
  • Hiking and/or mountaineering experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to become intimately familiar within a short period of time, the trail network of the resort.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to perform heavy work (defined as exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
  • Visual acuity necessary to perform work and operate machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach and also to perform inspection and maintenance tasks on equipment at a distance close to the eye.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing weather environment.
  • Ability to follow directives and complete tasks.

 

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Report to work on time when scheduled.
  • Report to work in proper dress or uniform and groomed appropriately.
  • Observe all employee rules and regulations.
  • Observe all applicable safety standards.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude, especially in area of customer service.

 

 JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • When required, assist with grounds maintenance tasks throughout the resort.
  • When asked support Lift Operations and Maintenance with tasking including but not limited to staffing lifts, being top operator for upload and download and covering breaks.
  • Attend safety meetings with crew members.
  • Ensure appropriate safety equipment is used at all times.
  • Ensure cooperation with other company employees to expedite work.
  • Complete all work in a professional manner.
  • Keep all work areas and job sites clean and orderly with consideration for company property and guest experience as well as the safety of co-workers and guests.
  • Limit travel as much as possible by properly planning material needs, breaks and lunches.   
  • Obtain work assignments and schedules from Ski Patrol Director or Director of Mountain Operations and obtain approval from them prior to changing the assignment and/or schedule.  
  • Maintain and track all company tools and assets which are used regularly or have been issued to employee. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Ski Patrol Director or Director of Mountain Operations.
  • Monitoring and promoting guest safety.
  • Provide exceptional guest service.
  • Assisting injured guests on the mountain and administering first aid.
  • Maintaining trails, identifying and mitigating hazards.
  • Transporting and setting up mountain safety equipment.
  • Transporting supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need.
