Job Summary:

As a Sport Ops Event Host, you’ll be part of a team focused on the daily operational tasks of Crankworx Whistler, the world leading mountain bike festival taking place in August of each summer.  You’ll be assisting in with the setup, execution and tear down of each venue and supporting the safe and professional delivery of each Crankworx Whistler competition.



  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest's expectations and to creat memories for guests and staff as the best mountain experience again and again
  • Will be required to welcome, brief and guide volunteers on their daily tasks
  • Will typically be working up to 10 hour shifts regardless of the weather over the course of the Festival
  • Responsible for mountain radios, on-mountain vehicles and other equipment
  • Assisting in the transportation of event equipment – either by hand or by loading transportation vehicles
  • Required to responsibly use and properly store equipment daily
  • Will be assigned specific responsibilities surrounding the setup of event equipment such as timing, fencing, race tape - and what goes up must come down as well
  • Expected to report damages to any event equipment or repairs required to Supervisor or Lead Hand immediately, taking appropriate steps to correct problem at the time
  • Will be required to ride your bike either in the park or in the valley in order to complete various course marking and safety checks
  • Required to assume different positions during events such as Starter, Chief of Marshalls, Finish Referee, etc.
  • Continuous attention to details involving event safety
  • You may be required to assist in other departments as needed to support overall Crankworx operations
  • Expected to be up to date with all competition information and act as Whistler Blackcomb ambassador at all times on and off the job.



  • Demonstrate our core values: Safety First, Striving to be the Best, and Showing that We Care
  • Mountain bike riding ability a must (must provide own bike)
  • Knowledge of the bike park and ability to ride most DH trails
  • Knowledge of the Whistler Valley trail network and ability to ride advanced trails an asset
  • Must have outgoing, friendly personality and show commitment to exceeding guest and athlete expectations at all times
  • Must be a hardworking, team player, capable of physical work outside in all weather conditions
  • Mountain Bike competition experience an asset - recreational level or beyond
  • A valid BC drivers license an asset
  • Any event coordination experiences an asset
