Job Summary

The Lift Operations Supervisor will assist in overseeing all aspects of the Lift Operations department: safety awareness, standards compliance, guest service and the daily coordinating of staff. This person will help develop and carry out company and department goals to the lift operations leadership group and staff. 


 Job Specifications:

  • Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced  


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Overseeing the daily staffing assignments of all staff and coordinating with on mountain supervisors and Managers.
  • Setting an excellent example and striving to improve safety, service and job satisfaction
  • Assisting with the selection, training and development of staff
  • Conducting employee reviews and participating in employee recognition programs
  • Ensuring adherence to all operational and safety procedures, resulting in safe and efficient operation of the lift and other equipment (trucks, snowmobiles, etc.) and providing a safe environment for guests and staff
  • Establishing and maintaining all operational aspects of the lift including ramps, mazes, tools and signs.  Maintaining the highest house-keeping standards, ensuring a groomed, uncluttered, litter-free environment
  • Providing leadership, promoting team spirit and cooperative work ethics; providing the most outstanding examples of friendly, cooperative relationships with our guests, other staff and within the Lift Team, including the supervisor team.
  • Showing initiative in handling routine matters and quick, thoughtful judgment in emergency situations
  • Informs the Lift Operations Assistant Managers, Managers and Senior Manager of any unusual or unsafe situations not only in an assigned zone, but anywhere at Whistler Blackcomb
  • Prior to public operation of any lift, ensuring all safety and operational procedures are complete
  • Ensuring proper and complete documentation of lift logs, accident and maintenance forms
  • Attending and participating in all employee meetings
  • Always wearing a clean, complete uniform (with nametag) and maintain grooming standard as when hired
  • Assuming responsibility of a Lift Zone and Lift Team and providing leadership and coaching
  • At every opportunity, greeting every guest in a friendly manner, making eye contact whenever possible

Job Qualifications:


  • Must be willing and able to start work as early as 5:30am
  • Must be a strong skier or snowboarder
  • Must have previous lift experience in a fast paced, high volume, year round mountain resort
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics used on lifts and be capable of troubleshooting on all lift equipment – particularly on a variety of gondolas and surface lifts
  • Excellent interpersonal and guest relations skills
  • Must satisfactorily complete the required lift exams


  • One + years of service at Whistler Blackcomb is an asset
  • One + year of experience in Gondola and Lift Operations is an asset
  • Experience leading a team of lift operations staff in a ski and boarding learning area is an asset
  • Ability to set the standard in the industry for efficient, safe operation – understanding of the Z98 requirements for operating lift operations in both winter and summer environments


 The budgeted range starts at $52,000.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
