Job Summary:

We’re currently looking for a Head Chef to join our Culinary Team here at Whistler Blackcomb. Overseeing a team of 40 you’ll be responsible for back of house operations for both Merlin’s Bar & Grill and Wizard Grill.


Located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain Merlin’s Bar & Grill provides guests with lunch, dinner and drinks from 11:30am until late – a major hot spot for après during the winter season with live music year round and a sun-soaked slope-side patio for laid back summer evenings.


The Wizard Grill is a quick serve location offering breakfast, lunch and hot drink options – the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat before you head on up the Blackcomb Gondola!


Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and grow the Merlin’s brand.
  • Manage labor costs to achieve financial targets.
  • Ordering of all food products.
  • Lead the cost of sales culture, portion and inventory controls.
  • Grow our safety and food safety culture.
  • Takes ownership of Vail Resorts Zero Waste initiatives.
  • Strict compliance to Food Safe and HACCP regulations.
  • Support employees; understands their role in achieving our business strategy.
  • Develop employees to support the organization’s business strategies.
  • Take a lead on culinary talent development, succession planning and performance management.
  • Take on new responsibilities in an evolving leadership and business environment.
  • Seeks to generate revenue opportunities by creating new, and enhancing current businesses.      
  • Knows how to seek out the experience of a lifetime for our employees and guests.   
  • Instills pride in the team and encourages members to feel proud about their accomplishments.
  • Understands and leverages experience and service benchmarks in the leisure/hospitality industry.

Job Requirements:

  • 3 years culinary management experience (Chef/Sous Chef) in a high volume bar/restaurant setting.
  • 5 years’ experience (Chef de Partie/1st cook) in high volume culinary environment.
  • Red Seal Chef certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience or personal interest in the ski/snowboard culture.
