Responsible for the effective supervision and the daily operation of two (2) Vail Mountain Fleet Maintenance Shops and Technicians that maintain the snowcats, snowmobiles, heavy equipment and rubber tire vehicles.

 

Reviews work orders, work progress, schedules, and priorities to ensure efficient and effective utilization of personnel and equipment. Receives requests for emergency and unscheduled work and makes arrangements for prompt services.

Assists with hiring, training and developing new and existing talent. Plans daily work schedules. Communicates and coordinate with other departments on repairs and status of equipment.

 

Makes recommendations as to the cost effectiveness of repairing, replacing or contracting repairs; performs procurement activities for outside repairs and services. Performs quality control to ensure work is correctly and safely completed; inspects work of employees for conformance to work plans and standard operating procedures. Prepares reports, work orders and documentation as required. Responds to customer requests, status updates and complaints; researches issues and resolves as appropriate.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of Work – Establish and implement effective administrative programs and procedures. Establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time-management methodology.
  • Actively reviews, monitors and analyzes maintenance activity, work orders and reports for accuracy, trends in repairs, equipment failures and, parts usage; to determine if corrective action is needed to minimize disruption on usage of equipment
  • Responsible for carrying out effective preventative maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs and equipment/machinery utilization and service
  • Assist in the selection of new employees; train, supervise and evaluate assigned employees; recommend disciplinary action or promotion as appropriate; review completed work and provide feedback as necessary
  • Actively supports and develops ongoing skill building for Fleet Maintenance Technicians by providing training for skills enhancement.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative and courteous relationships with employees, managers, representatives from other departments and organizations. Shares knowledge with staff for mutual and departmental benefit
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, shop rules, environmental and safety procedures and applicable laws
  • Review spare parts/maintenance supply inventory and coordinate with Parts Specialist regarding the purchasing of materials and supplies for maintenance services
  • Be hands-on and lead technicians by example
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School. Some College
  • Automotive Technical School/Training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8-10 Years Shop Experience
  • Automotive/Heavy Equipment Maintenance –Thorough knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of vehicles, specialized equipment and small engines to include procedures for diagnosing malfunctions and performing technical repairs as well as the operation maintenance of equipment.
  • Basic technologies involved in electrical, hydraulics and fuel systems.
  • 3-5 Years of lead or supervisory experience
  • Colorado Drivers License, CDL License
  • Advanced Vehicle Analyzers and On Board Computer Systems,
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, fleet maintenance programs and related software to effectively complete a variety of administrative tasks with reasonable speed and accuracy.
  • Oral and Written English Proficiency
  • Provide own tool box with extensive set of hand tools and Automotive testing equipment
  • Judgement/Decision Making – Ability to use logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, and evaluate situations and exercise good judgment to make appropriate decisions
  • Communication – Excellent ability to communicate complex ideas and proposals effectively so others will understand to include preparation of reports and work orders. Ability to handle a variety of issues with tact and diplomacy and in a confidential manner
  • Advanced Automotive Job Skills and Experience
  • Working Knowledge of a Fleet    

Preferred:

  • Snowcat (Prinoth/Pisten Bully) and/or Heavy Equipment knowledge and experience
  • Ski Industry experience
  • Maintenance Operation, Workload management

 

The budgeted range starts at $26.66 - $33.32.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
