The Pool Bartender is responsible for ensuring that all Resort guests have the highest quality beverage/bar experience possible while maintaining a profitable department that is environmentally responsible. He / She is required to follow the brand standards from the beginning of the service cycle through the entire process, and will exhibit strong beverage/wine knowledge, professional and gracious service while enhancing the guest experience through outstanding service skills.

This position is expected to handle all opening and/or closing duties required to properly operate any resort pool bar or service bar.  Some of those duties include; making sure that all stocking is done, the back bar is displayed according to standards, wells are filled with ice and the bar/lounge/pool area is clean and ready for service.

 An ideal candidate should be capable of multi-tasking and working at a fast, but thorough pace. He / She should be able to partner well with other bartenders, the in-room dining servers and bar backs to provide a "seamless experience" for guests. This individual is also responsible for various administrative tasks up to and including: maintaining par levels, submitting daily/weekly orders, and conducts daily/weekly inventory.

This position is responsible for supporting and being a part of the In-Room Dining department of the hotel.  These two departments work very closely to ensure excellent guest service standards are met 100% of the time.  Extra duties include running food to the pool, assisting with keeping hotel amenities stocked and up to par, assisting with taking orders and delivering to rooms, assuring the the pool area maintain a clean and professional look, and the possibility of working full In-Room Dining shifts.  Extra duties may be assigned. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures smooth, efficient and sanitary bar operations, as well as cash handling and providing change for the servers. 
  • Must be knowledgeable in the preparation of various alcoholic beverages including mixed drinks, wine, and beer.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the preparation of all food and alcohol menu items.
  • Must maintain stock levels throughout the day.
  • Learns the names and personally recognizes regulars and hotel guests.
  • Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  • Clear and reset tables in bar area and pool area.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
  • Be available to fill in as an In-Room Dining server as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the overall F&B hotel operation as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Assist in stocking and maintaining hotel amenities such as water stations, towels and robes at the pool, etc…
  • Following brand standards throughout each interaction with all guests.
  • Develop and design cocktails for the bar.
  • Ability to learn the entire food menus and be able to guide guests to what they want and upsell to boost revenue.
  • Work side by side with the In-Room Dining team in supporting them and possibly working some of these shifts. 
  • Be flexible and adaptable to the changing environment at the pool and guest volume levels throughout the summer season. 
  • Work with management on creating efficiencies for the pool.




  • High school diploma or equivalent. -required  
  • Must have a friendly and courteous attitude towards guests - required.
  • Current TIPS certification for responsible service of alcohol. -required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a bartender in an upscale Food & Beverage hotel/resort. -preferred
  • Knows common drink recipes and is able to learn and apply all menu recipes within short time. -required
  • Must be able to effectively present detailed information both verbally and in written form to guests and fellow employees. -required
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex correspondence. -required 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English both written and verbal. -required
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. -required
  • Experienced in all phases of Beverage operations. -preferred 
  • Point of Sales experience. –preferred
