The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the complete maintenance of all irrigation equipment used on the golf course, including: proper repair of existing pipe and wire network, installation of system upgrades and other work specific to the irrigation system, daily monitoring of soil moisture on golf course through syringing and hand-watering areas as needed.  All work is expected to be performed under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.


This position generally works a 40-48 hour work week, around the middle of April through the middle of October. Discounted Housing Provided.


Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and repair irrigation system.
  • Regulate all irrigation channels, pond levels and maintain all culverts at pathways and road crossings to ensure proper flows at all times.
  • Assist in irrigation scheduling to maintain firm and fast playing conditions (not too wet and not too dry).
  • Apply supplemental irrigation by means of existing heads or hoses to any areas on golf course requiring additional care.
  • Become familiar with the operation and programming of the Maxi Cirrus central computer system and be able to alter schedules as required.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.


The “must haves” for this position include:

  • Vocational training or comparable work experience in irrigation system operation and maintenance of  irrigation products.
  • Must have current valid driver’s license and successdul MVR completion.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Self-motivation and ability to lead others will benefit a person in this position.


We prefer that you additionally have the following skills / experience, but it is not required:

  • Two or four year degree in turf-grass management or related field of study.
  • Previous golf course irrigation experience
  • Knowledge of irrigation central control system software (i.e. RainBird Cirrus)
