Stevens Pass is looking for reliable and hardworking individuals to lead day to day operations in the field associated with building and maintaining the winter ski trail system as well as general labor and maintenance at the resort. The Team Lead position will work closely with the manager and lead the day to day operations as well as oversee the safety culture and training components. This position will focus more on leadership and coordinating efforts and communicating across multiple departments as necessary.

Job Duties:

• Guide trail crew in daily projects and operations
• Work with the Trail Crew Manager to organize and plan projects
• Communicate regularly regarding projects progress, and operational/equipment needs
• Execute projects in a safe and timely manner
• Ensure trail crew compliance with all safety SOP’s and Procedures in the field
• Requires basic carpentry skills, hand tool work, chainsaw and brush cutter operation, digging, lifting, concrete work, hiking, trail guarding, vegetation work, working with/around heavy equipment, welding, sign installation, and other trail crew projects
• Provide medical response for employees, hikers and bikers on the premises as needed
• Provide lift evacuation response during summer operation hours
• Provide occasional assistance for resort special events

Basic Requirements:

• Minimum four (4) years of experience on Trail Crew
• Minimum of at least one (1) season as a Lead Trail Crew member.
• Demonstration of strong leadership, organizational, and project planning skills
• Demonstrated alignment with VR values:  Be inclusive, Be Safe, Have Fun, Drive Value, Do Good, Do Right, Serve Others
• Ability to lift up to 75 to 100 pounds, with assistance as necessary
• Ability to twist, turn, pull, and push
• Possess current driver’s license
• Ability to stand for long periods of time in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to hike for long periods of time with gear
• Ability to change and adapt with a flexible work schedule
• Must be at least 21 years old

Preferred Requirements:            

• OEC/EMT Certification
• Lead or Team Lead position during winter operations
• Winter patrol professional lift evacuation training including:
  • Ground based evacuation of detachable and fixed grip chairs
  • Ascending to chairs for problem solving
  • Strong rope rescue skills
• Chainsaw experience (operations and maintenance)
• Brush Cutter experience (operations and maintenance)
• Heavy Equipment Experience
• Welding Experience
