Ticket Scanning Leads focus on delivering a memorable on-mountain experience through providing outstanding guest service at each of our base area lift locations. The lead works as part of a team at a location to greet each guest, scan every ticket and verify that each guest has a valid product to access the mountain. The Lead performs scanning functions, but also steps in to assist and troubleshoot invalid scans in the lift line, identifies and escalates more complex guest service situations and communicates with the ticket office to resolve access issues in a timely manner.

 

Shifts are full time, with day and night options available. This is a 100% outdoors position.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Passion for the outdoors and the mountain environment.
  • Prior experience working a front line, guest facing position required.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all mountain winter weather conditions and stand for up to 8 hours without sitting.
  • Ability to handle frequent guest interactions, maintaining tact and high service standards at all times.
  • Ability to remain enthusiastic and perform methodically when busy.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to follow specific departmental procedures and guidelines.
  • Must be available to work shifts on weekends and holidays throughout the winter season, and be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attain and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all products, department objectives, and scanning processes.
  • Cultivate a friendly, fun, team environment for the experience of a lifetime for fellow employees and guests.
  • Promote, embrace and adhere to Vail Resorts’ Mission and Core Values.
  • Work as a team member to make sure all guests are scanned properly and the team provides consistent, friendly and helpful guest service.
  • Ensure the consistent and correct setup of lift mazes.
  • Solve ticket/pass problems in the lift line, quickly and effectively with a high level of guest service, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Protect against the fraudulent use of ticket and pass products.
  • Troubleshoot any issues with handheld scanning devices.
  • Assist Supervisors with scheduling, ongoing training and development of the Ticket Scanning team.
  • Participate in department activities and service initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, sit, stoop, balance, climb and hike in and over steep, winter terrain.  The employee will reach with hands and arms to manipulate small items with gloved hands; operate a manual shovel; swing and carry hand tools, equipment, and personal supplies. The employee may regularly lift up to 40 pounds alone and may occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. The employee may be exposed to: working near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; and inclement weather and mountain environmental conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus. Must possess the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, and/or snow and ice covered surfaces, stairs and/or ladders.
