<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">ASSISTANT MANAGER SKI PATROL – Seasonal 8 Months

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Assistant Manager Ski Patrol will assist in all aspects of overseeing the Park City Ski Patrol. This is a managerial position tasked with performing at a global level, capable of prioritizing and strategizing all facets of the job with the intent of aligning the team internally, between bases, and with the core competencies and values of the Company. Assist in preparing and managing both operational and capital budgets. Ensures patrollers are trained and prepared to respond to all emergent situations at the ski resort. This position must be committed to providing the highest standard of guest service. <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The job requires strong leadership qualities, the ability to problem solve, creativity, and the ability to build a positive, winning culture while building a high performing team.

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Oversees the day to day operations of Park City Ski Patrol, including all facets of guest service, guest safety, medical care, snow safety, mountain maintenance and lift evacuation. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Leads first and foremost with the Vail Leadership Competencies and Values, using the behavioral anchors as a guidance on leadership style
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Possesses strong leadership skills and has the capacity to develop the leadership skills of others including patrol team leads, leads and line staff
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Competencies:  Re-Imagine, Out Front, Drive, Develop, Connect, Passion
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Values: Serve Others, Do Right, Drive Value, Do Good, Be Safe, Have Fun
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Conducts administrative duties such as goal setting, performance management, performance appraisals, overseeing and ensuring the quality assurance of training, scheduling, work comp, payroll, budget management and anything else necessary for the successful operation of the Park City Ski Patrol.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Functions appropriately in the absence of the Ski Patrol Manager and/or Senior Manager. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Works closely with other on mountain departments and managers and third party agencies.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Demonstrates working knowledge of mountain operations, including but not limited to: snowmaking, slope maintenance, risk management, terrain parks, lift maintenance, race crew, lift operations, mountain safety, mountain dining, special events, and transportation.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Demonstrates effective supervisory skills with regards to employee engagement, positive reinforcement, disciplinary and corrective action, and documented mid and end of season reviews.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Holds employees accountable to the Employee Manual, Patrol Manual and current Bargaining Agreement
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Demonstrates effective communication skills and strong guest service skills

  

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">QUALIFICATIONS:

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">3 years supervisory experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">5 years ski patrol experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel and be able to navigate Vail Resorts platforms
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be able to handle conflict with diplomacy and tact
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be successful with influencing a positive culture, leading change, empowering the workforce and driving employee engagement
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must have and keep OEC certification current
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays as required
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This is a full-time, 5 day a week position.

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be able to ski at a professional skier level in all snow and weather conditions, daily, for two hours minimum and up to eight hours at a time;
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Be able to lift (and ski with) a minimum of 50 lbs daily, if the opportunity presents itself.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must have frequent ability to lift, stand, walk, sit, and maneuver in all climate conditions on mountain, in high elevation territories;
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must have full dexterity of hands and fingers to feel and maneuver in cold temperatures;
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to reach with hands/arms;
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in all weather conditions at a high elevation;
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to communicate with our guests verbally -  listening and talking in a calm manner;
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must have good vision (corrected or not corrected) – with ability to see up-close, in the distance, peripheral, depth perception and have the ability to adjust focus.

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Skiing and related activities, working in outdoor winter mountain weather
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Use of explosives, exposure to noise
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Equipment used: skis, trucks, some power tools, snowmobile, computer
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Other duties as assigned
