Bike Park Instructor - FT - Summer Seasonal - Okemo Mountain Resort

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating a safe and fun learning environment while instructing and guiding guests on the mountain bike trail system
  • Manage one-on-one instruction in a private lesson setting as well as group lesson setting
  • Responsible for riding mountain bike on all trails in the mountain bike trail systems
  • Responsible for managing mountain bike schedule, attending meetings, trainings and lesson assignments
  • Responsible for communicating to guests safety requirements of the mountain bike park and trail system, as well as loading and unloading lift
  • Responsible for following all mountain bike trail system guidelines, as well as uphill and downhill access routes
  • Responsible for communication with the ticket, rental/retail department to ensure all liability and ticketing procedures are carried out properly within operational guidelines
  • Additional duties as requested by the supervisor

Skills:

  • Strong guest service orientation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to instruct guests on mountain bike riding
  • Ability to uphold safety procedures and communicate them to the guest at all times
  • Advanced level mountain biking

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions on varying terrain, for extended periods of time
  • Physical fitness a must with ability to react to changes in weather conditions while riding a mountain bike
  • Ability to ride a mountain bike at an advanced level on all types of terrain, and load and unload on a lift
  • Ability to access all areas of the mountain bike park
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, sit, reach, lift, walk, bike/ride on uneven, mountainous terrain
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds (medium lifting)
  • Ability to communicate via phone or radio

Certifications/Diplomas/Prerequisites:

  • Previous experience with mountain bike guiding and instruction required
  • Must complete training, with employment contingent on passing a test at conclusion of training
  • Previous experience working outdoors
  • High school diploma or equivalent
