The Server greets guests, takes orders for food and/or beverages, and serves food/beverage items. May collect payment for food/beverages, including operation of a computer or cash register. May assist bussing staff with filling water glasses and clearing/cleaning tables. May work in a restaurant, cocktail lounge/bar, snack bar, or deli.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Give each guest personalized and elevated  service during their dining experience  by observing guests to anticipate and respond to their needs
  • Has thorough knowledge of all food and beverage items
  • Describe and recommend wine, beer and specialty drinks suggesting specific items through use of salesmanship
  • Takes food and beverage orders, places orders, delivers orders, checks back after delivery to ensure satisfaction.
  • Performs opening, running, and closing duties as designed by the manager on duty
  • Uphold strict cash handling procedures and be accountable for all transactions daily
  • Maintains table appearance by pre-bussing, checks drink levels, removes clutter and provides adequate napkins, etc
  • Keeps station clean, sets up and takes down station tables appropriately
  • Helps maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the restaurant, specifically his/her tables, side station, service bar, the expo line and any other area dealt with.
  • Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming habits explicitly follows the uniform and appearance codes
  • Reads service standards an all bulletin boards each day, and has a working knowledge of, and is up to date on all procedures concerning charges, coupons, personal checks, special promotions and other discounts.
  • Participates in controlling costs and minimizing wastes.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CA Food Handler Card
  • Previous POS experience
  • Present bills, accept payments, operates POS system quickly and efficiently
