Rooted in the historical anthracite coal mining industry of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Jack Frost came from humble beginnings. Here, Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company founders, Josiah White and Erskine Hazzard, created the world’s first iron-wire suspension bridge, which paved the way for a lodge and ski slope, which would eventually become Jack Frost/Big Boulder. Today, the resorts are considered the heart and soul of Pennsylvania's ski industry.
