Adventure Peak Team Lead

The Team Lead will be the operational leader and direct supervisor of an activity grouping and will support additional activity operations when needed.  This person is part of the Leadership Team and will report directly to part of the Management team.  This person will be responsible for directly monitoring the quality of overall activities operations on a daily, weekly and seasonal basis.  Implementing standard operating procedures; ensuring exceptional service/experience delivery; ensuring alignment with department, resort, and company goals; accountable for managing the day-to-day operations to maximize financial success; ensuring guest and staff safety; managing and leading a team; helping with other needs in the department and the growth and development of their activity and staff.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Assist Management Team in training front line staff for operations and guest service
  • Maintain and execute the training programs for staff related to guest service, daily operations, and emergency response that meet all applicable codes and regulations
  • Distribute/gather training assessments of front-line staff
  • Ensure proper completion of Training Checklists and turn in appropriately
  • Oversee/schedule rescue practice (if applicable) and input staff completions on tracking spreadsheet accordingly
  • Attend additional trainings as needed or assigned
  • Required to pass activity specific training and maintain competency as needed



  • Oversight of operations staff including training, achieving staffing goals and managing performance to meet service and financial goals
  • Maintain operating procedures, inspection logs and safety standards for employees and guests
  • Conduct daily morning meetings, address operations and guest service needs by setting clear goals and objectives for staff
  • Distribute daily inspection logs to front line staff; collect, review, and sign off – daily
  • Manage the operation in order to achieve budget goals according to departmental guidelines
  • Responsible for guest and employee safety and guest safety including compliance with state, federal, and industry regulatory operating requirements (e.g., USFS, OSHA, ANSI, ASTM, ACCT, IAAPA, etc.).
  • Support in incident/accident investigations
  • Actively foresee, plan for, and mitigate any hazards or risks associated with their activity
  • Ensure the highest level of cleanliness, organization, and care for the activities and all related equipment
  • Work with their Leadership and Management Teams, Patrol/Medics, Lift Operations and other key departments to keep our facilities and equipment maintained and in safe working order and to develop a positive working environment
  • Ensure staff maintain uniform and professional grooming standards



  • Conduct and document progressive coaching and discipline conversations with staff according to protocol
  • Maintain and update schedules with days off requests, day trades, last day of work
  • Complete End of Shift report daily with all topics throughout the day       
  • Set and communicate Daily Rotation to front line at Morning Meeting   
  • Complete performance appraisals and separation forms for review and approval prior to meeting with front line; schedule time to communicate details accordingly with front line employees
  • Communicates purchasing needs to Management
  • Provide feedback regarding document revisions needed
  • Responsible for sharing guest feedback with Management and pertinent guest feedback with staff, and adjusting operations to best create the Experience of a Lifetime
  • Clear exceptions and ad-hoc daily labor in PeopleSoft as needed


Job Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable working in a high alpine environment including working through inclement weather conditions
  • Able to walk uphill at a moderate pace at elevation of 9,000’+
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 Year previous experience in the outdoor industry; knowledge and skill in leading recreational activities
  • Experience leading teams including scheduling and performance management
  • Intermediate or better skill set in MS Office products including Excel and Word
  • Written and verbal fluency in the English language
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 160 ft. (if applicable)
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Ability to work well with people and maintain composure in challenging situations
  • Maintain a professional and appropriate relationship with direct reports
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Under 250 pounds due to manufacturer requirements


Preferred (not required) job skills:

  • ACCT Level 1 Certification
  • Technical Rope Rescue Certification
  • Knowledge in ASTM Standards
  • Wilderness First Responder
  • First Aid and/or CPR
  • Emergency response experience
  • Professional Office Skills
  • Valid US driver's license
