Job Summary:  

The Vice President, Analytics and Insights is responsible for leading Vail Resorts data-driven roadmap and strategic insights to drive business results.  The ideal candidate has 10+ years of a proven track record as high potential talent demonstrating drive, ambition, business acumen, and emotional intelligence.  


This leader must be guest-centric and have a deep understanding of analytics, with significant experience in using strategic insights to shape and drive business strategy. This involves leading a team of ~50 analytics professionals to achieve business outcomes aligned with the Strategic Priorities of the company. This leader must have the ability to set a strategic vision and then mobilize the organization to achieve that vision. 


The mission of the Analytics team is to leverage Vail Resorts proprietary guest data to generate actionable strategic insights that drive business strategy to unlock value for the company. The Analytics team has a broad scope supporting many different aspects of the company – the team is responsible for providing analytics support to each line of business (Season Pass, Paid Lift Tickets, Ski and Ride School, Rental), each of our marketing channels (e.g. Paid Media, Relationship Marketing, e-Commerce platform, etc), and our Mountain Division (i.e. Operations Analytics). The analytics support for each key marketing line of business includes strategic business planning, business performance reporting, and insight generation.  In addition, the Analytics team is responsible for leading our Data Science and Data Engineering program, which focuses on finding impactful use cases for leveraging our proprietary data combined with advanced analytics to unlock value for our company. The Analytics team also is responsible for Pricing and our Test & Learn program. 


Job Responsibilities:  

  • Leadership: Ability to hire and develop great talent, build and support an inclusive, high performing team culture.  Drive the vision, strategy and long-term roadmap for the Analytics team.   

  • Insights: Leverage data to identify actionable insights that influence business strategy and tactics to drive results. 

  • Strategy: Ability to align insights about guest behavior and marketing effectiveness with strategy for growth. 

  • Analytics: Direct and shape the analytics, data science, and data reporting strategy for Vail Resorts 

  • Business Acumen: Understand the drivers of Vail Resorts business and how to align data-driven marketing insights to impact results.  

  • Partnership: Collaborate with cross-functional leaders across the organization to align technology solutions, processes, and programs to enable a holistic view of Vail Resorts guests. 

  • Executive Communication: This role has significant interaction with the Executive Committee including the CEO; excellent executive level verbal and written communications are a requirement 

  • Innovation: Be an out-front advocate and thought leader for new capabilities and technologies to drive business insights.

  • Leadership Agility: Demonstrates strong leadership agility, including: drawing on disparate information to structure work and identify insights, crafting strategy, and translating that strategy to execution with consideration for all stakeholders   


Job Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 10 years in business leadership role 

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience 

  • Demonstrated capability in strategy, business analysis, and analytical thinking 

  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and a professional and positive attitude 

  • Experience with Data Science and demonstrated success developing data-driven roadmaps 

  • Strong organizational skills necessary to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment. 

  • Confidence to have a strong point of view and express it even if it proves unpopular   

  • MBA or equivalent preferred 


The expected pay range is $200,000 - $235,000 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
