Job Summary
The Senior Merchandise Manager of Bicycles, Parts and Accessories (SMM) reports to the Senior Director of Hardgoods, the SMM of Bike is an advanced level position and this individual possesses a wide and broad level of knowledge and experience.  This individual will lead a team and drive to fulfill assigned buying functions for their locations (regions), generating business through year round, seasonal and promotional buys to maximize sales and profits.  This position is responsible for the entire product life cycle from merchandise assortment, pricing and promotion, to stock movement and liquidation. This position will collaborate with the Sr. Director of Hardgoods & their team on driving vendor & product strategy for all Bikes (Retail and Rental), Parts and accessories for the company.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead, Direct, and inspire team to ensure all business opportunities are met along with Leadership development for themselves and team.
  • Demonstrated management level foresight and ability to propose decisions within the framework of strategic initiatives and tactical imperatives. 
  • The position requires a blend of strategic planning expertise, category management fundamentals, merchant driven financial/analytical experience and the ability to drive innovative cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to lead and manage cross functional project teams.
  • Effectively manage the sales, margin, and turns for assigned categories and locations.
  • Evaluate sales trends and create methods for sales growth and inventory effectiveness.
  • Determine category assortments by location and identifies support opportunities through Replenishment process.
  • Maintains and manages Vendor relationships through effective collaboration, communication and mutual respect.
  • Compliance with Category budgets and overall Open to Buy process.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Operational teams.
  • Remain current on industry trends/products as well as competitive pressures.
  • Demonstrates solid analytical & financial skills.
  • Travel to trade shows as necessary.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelors’ degree in related field or prior work experience  
  • Min 3-5 years of multi-store buying/merchandising experience in the sporting goods industry.
  • Min 1-3 years supervisory experience
  • MS Office Products; Advanced MS Excel
  • English fluency both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with merchandising/buying programs


  • Leadership development training/experience
  • Familiar with AS400/Silvon reporting systems
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft Excel functions (V look up, Pivot Tables, Macros)
  • Strong negotiation skills


The budgeted range starts at $80,000-$97,700 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
