Overview:

 

The Vail Resorts Retail Finance team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. The team drives value through comprehensive financial planning, forecasting and analysis, enabling the company to align its resources with the achievement of its strategic goals for the long term and short term. The retail team works closely with corporate finance, resort finance, accounting and operational leadership teams. The role will report to the Sr. Director of Retail FP&A and is based in Broomfield, CO.

 

This position will serve as the lead for the Vail Resorts Retail FP&A function. This individual will be responsible for leading the division-wide forecast and budget process, consolidating results and synthesizing those results into actionable insight.  The role requires developing close relationship with both financial and operational leaders, excellent communication skills, strong business acumen and in-depth knowledge of the company’s business strategies and goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Budgeting & Forecasting

 

  • Partner with corporate finance, regional financial analysts and leadership team to develop comprehensive annual operating and capital budgets for all retail and rental stores, including details by day and month.
  • On a monthly basis, develop daily and monthly sales forecast, segmented by product, category and location.
  • Provide insight on how variables such as historical performance, seasonality, promotions, and the macro/micro economic environment affect the current business trends
  • Lead the department-wide monthly forecast reviews with Retail leadership teams, providing trend analyses, forecast recommendations and assess risks and opportunities
  • Prepare comprehensive, executive-level monthly financial review to present to senior retail leadership team and corporate finance

 

Business Partnering

 

  • Partner with corporate and Retail leadership teams, Corporate Finance teams, Accounting teams and many more
  • Perform analysis of exposure and return for all business decisions, making recommendations for optimizing financial impact
  • Developing analyses, tools, processes and procedures to facilitate and monitor business initiatives
  • Participate in periodic conference calls/meetings with business partners to ensure accurate forecasting
  • Partner with the merchandise and inventory planning teams to provide forecast insights

 

Strategic Analysis

 

  • Develop innovative analyses on all aspects of the rental and retail business, including industry trends and competitor trends
  • Participate in Quarterly Business Review and present to Retail leadership team
  • Present complex financial modeling in simplified form to Retail Leadership and senior finance executives regularly
  • Conduct post-mortem analysis on capital investments to assess profitability

  • 4+ years of experience (or 1-2 years with MBA or other graduate degree) in finance with demonstrated success in financial modeling and analysis
