The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the project delivery of our enterprise applications across the IT and HR functions at Vail Resorts.  Reporting to the Director of HR Technology, this driven and talented individual will lead the overall technology program portfolio for our business partners.  This is a critical leadership role that will have project oversight of various business analysts and technical developers, and direct interactions with internal customer stakeholders and senior leadership teams. This position within Vail Resorts comes with high expectations that this leader will deliver forward-thinking solutions and establish him/herself as a genuine partner in a collaborative environment. Day-to-day activities include delivery of large projects, ongoing releases, rigorous prioritization processes, resource management, and vendor release planning that align to our business strategies.



  • IT Project Manager of highly visible and critical projects, including:
    • Automation of transactions in PeopleSoft
    • Case management and knowledge base articles in ServiceNow
    • Automation of payroll tasks
    • Implementation of new features and enhancements for SuccessFactors and Saba
  • Must have the ability to:
    • Build and execute against detailed project plans
    • Manage stakeholder expectations
    • Manage capital and opex project budgets
    • Prepare and manage cross-team resource plans
    • Schedule and facilitate project team meetings
    • Escalate risks and issues to key project stakeholders
    • Collaborate with business-side project managers and program manager
    • Provide timely and accurate project status updates to the Director of HR Technology
  • Manage the regular release lifecycle of system enhancements and defect fixes
    • Facilitate daily scrum meetings to track current status and progress in JIRA tickets
    • Prioritize backlog with business and HR Technology leadership teams
    • Work with teams to assess level of effort
    • Schedule releases and contents
    • Run weekly release management meetings to track progress, raise risks/issues
    • Complete release retrospectives



  • 3-10 years of relevant project management experience, including proven ability to successfully lead a project team and oversee critical projects and multi-faceted efforts
  • Demonstrates project/program management and analytical skills with the ability to identify and understand complex problems, make decisions, create plans and solutions, and take action
  • Self-starter and self-motivated without the need for daily direction
  • Consistently demonstrated growth in their own skills and leadership
  • Continuously adapts to changes and effectively navigates through ambiguity, decides and acts without having the picture totally defined, appropriately changes one’s strategy in response to new information
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field


Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Working knowledge and understanding of key concepts and systems related to Human Resource functions (payroll, benefits, compensation, talent acquisition, talent development)
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Jira or related project management tools
  • Project Management certification (PMP, CSM, etc.)

  • Drive:  Develop and drive the accountability of business objectives and supporting IT initiatives
    • Provide project/program facilitation and oversight; facilitate agreement on objectives and success measures, provide overall project/program issue resolution and roadblock removal. 
    • Partner closely at the Director & Sr. Management levels to support key areas of work that focus on highest priorities, including suggesting and managing the best time allocation and use of group meetings
