Summary of Job:



The Marketing Analytics Department is responsible for using a data-driven approach to inform marketing decisions, monitor business trends, measure guest behavior, ensure high quality data, and maximize marketing effectiveness across the organization.  Within this department, the Data Science and Data Governance Team works as to advance the value and use of data as an asset. We leverage advanced development methods, data mining, machine learning, and predictive techniques to inform decisions and elevate communication with our guests.


The Sr. Data Science Analyst will be an integral part of Data Science operations for Marketing Analytics. The role will act as a source of business-centric innovation, partnering across the organization to support data-driven initiatives by leveraging our Enterprise Data Warehouse and various data sources throughout the data ecosystem. The successful candidate will be a contributor to and leader within the Data Science space, adding value to the enterprise by ideating, describing, presenting and executing Data Science projects within a collaborative atmosphere.


Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • [Develop] Research, develop, and execute new methods to create advanced data products for the Marketing Analytics Team that extend the effectiveness of marketing actions and add efficiency across the organization.
  • [Product Management]  Manage current data structures with a focus on repeatability and stability in a complex environment. Build in thoughtful ways that optimize the use of our tools while creating functional data repositories that are recognized for quality and functionality
  • [Center of Excellence]  Act as an advocate and best practice source for the tools the team leverages and creates.  The candidate will train consumers in how to use the tools as well as the methods and practices that bring them to life
  • [Business Analysis]  Acquire and maintain a deep knowledge of the business and the data structures which support it through interacting with end users, data providers, and the data itself
  • [Knowledge Base]  Collaborate with business and IT resources in order to become a source of best practice in the organization and inform a meta data repository to transform learnings into institutional knowledge
  • [Partnership] Be an advocate for the business while recognizing what is possible; be an excellent communicator around prioritization, requirements, and status
  •  [Policy and Procedure] Adhere to all Vail Data Governance policies and procedures in enriching and protecting our data assets.
  • [Quality Assurance] Partner with team members to ensure the quality of every product produced


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Business, Technology, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or Mathematics) required
  • At least 4 years’ experience with Enterprise Data required.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential. The candidate must be able handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Previous exposure to development, documentation and maintenance of business data models
  • Candidates must be highly organized and detail-oriented. 
  • The ideal candidate will have a balanced skilled set; able to describe technical and non-technical concepts effectively.
  • Hospitality or travel industry experience helpful but not required; broad marketing experience in a company driven by analytics.
  • Strength in written and verbal communication.  Excellent interpersonal, with the ability to communicate difficult concepts effectively.
  • Highly collaborative approach and open communication style
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • High level of comfort with technology
  • Relational database skills/understanding in a MS SQL environment
  • Experience with a Data Science tool set including: R, Python, Alteryx, SAS
  • Experience with analytic tools/software such as SQL, SAS, SPSS, Alteryx, MS Excel
  • Working in On premises and cloud environments
