Summary of Job:

Manage Vail Resorts’ multi-channel relationship marketing communications, with a strong emphasis on email deployment and strategy.  Assist in the support and crafting of the Relationship Marketing vision and roadmap in close alignment with the Corporate Marketing teams. This role is responsible for the translation of strategic plans into tactical plans, with an emphasis on prioritizing, owning and driving the day to day marketing plans while leading a team of specialists focused on execution.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Improve enterprise wide marketing campaign performance by creating and interpreting campaign results, working closely with stakeholders to drive improvements in marketing engagement and conversion.
  • Work closely with the Relationship Marketing capabilities team to optimize the design, content, layout, customer segmentation and messaging strategies as well as managing direct, email, and mobile campaign development and QA process including proofing evaluation of copy and creative.
  • Use in depth marketing industry knowledge, gather primary and secondary customer insights, collect database findings, and gain a deep understanding of internal business goals to develop impactful contact strategy, email content, landing pages, direct mail pieces, segmentation schemes, and email preferences while maintaining industry best practices including browser/client/mobile compatibility, appearance of subject lines, use of images, postal regulations, etc.
  • Manage and develop a team of relationship marketing specialist.  Possess a strong sense of self-awareness and convey and exemplify the Vail Resorts standard of leadership. Strong focus on leadership development of self and team.  
  • Create solutions that automate processes involving complex systems/data that increase our ability to dynamically personalize customer and prospect communications within the Relationship Marketing team.
  • Provide specialized expertise for the marketing discipline across acquisition, retention, churn management, deliverability, and CAN-SPAM compliance.
  • Contribute to the strategic relationship marketing campaign efforts (email, mobile, DM) in close alignment with the season pass team to drive greater channel engagement and increased conversion of known and prospective season pass customers.
  • Serve as a thought-leader for digitally targeted and orchestrated campaigns across all lines of business, with a heavy emphasis on email. 
  • Provide relationship marketing thought leadership on customer contact strategies in alignment with media and on-site digital experience to increase year over year customer retention for season pass. 
  • Serve as a key partner for corporate marketing leadership to ensure integration of Relationship Marketing into marketing strategy and traditional marketing plans.  Continually build the relationship with all partners and consumers of the Relationship Marketing functional area to ensure Relationship Marketing is at the forefront of everyone’s agenda and solidly defined/interwoven into their planning.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related degree
  • 5+ years experience in Email Marketing, Relationship Marketing, or Mobile Digital Marketing
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint), HTML, CSS, Omniture, Exact Target, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Marketing Automation Software.

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related degree required
  • 5+ years experience in direct and/or email marketing required
  • Strong understanding of B2C direct marketing strategy & tactics required; preferably in email marketing for hospitality, travel, or ski company
  • Track record of developing data-driven multi-channel campaigns resulting in solid business results is necessary
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Excel and Access)
  • Experience with mobile marketing technology for Push Marketing, in-app marketing, SMS, MMS, and mobile optimization. 
  • Experience with email marketing tools required; ExactTarget experience a plus
  • Experience building and executing direct mail and email campaigns
  • Basic understanding of marketing databases/campaign management tools
  • Ability to articulate and champion email marketing best practices
  • Excellent project management skills
