Summary of Job:



The Marketing Analytics Department is responsible for using a data-driven approach to inform marketing decisions, monitor business trends, measure guest behavior, ensure high quality data, and maximize marketing effectiveness across the organization.  Within this department, the Data Governance Team works to highlight and remediate data deficiencies, standardize tool usage and data consumption patterns, create and maintain metadata, and sustain alignment and understanding around enterprise metrics.



The Data Governance QA Analyst is the primary driver for process and documentation that promote high-quality and reliable data. This position will be responsible for creating and executing QA process around each of the analytic outputs emanating from our team: dashboards, datasets, predictive models, and updates to the data warehouse.  The ideal candidate will establish process, document process, and use process engineering principles to optimize and streamline.  The position will act to inform and maintain key reports and metrics that will describe overall quality of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and its downstream dependencies.


Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Solid knowledge of QA testing techniques to design a test plan and determine the appropriate number of test iterations
  • Create, execute, and manage a suite of manual and automated tests to ensure conformance to the requirements outlined within user stories and team conversations
  • Create and manage data quality monitoring reports including alerts and key data management metrics
  • Effectively communicate defects to the development team and work with the product owner to ensure they are put into a product's backlog or addressed within a sprint
  • Ensure data quality issues are tracked and assigned to the appropriate owner
  • Perform research and provide recommendations for enhancement to current suite of products
  • Work with assets within Marketing Analytics as well as throughout the scope of Vail’s data governance program to assist in documenting projects, process, and data points in order to facilitate the movement of individual/tribal knowledge into institutional best practice.
  • Be able to lead analytical thought groups to clarify requirements and understand design, with a focus on desired outcome


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Business, Technology, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Engineering, or Mathematics) required
  • 1-3 years of experience in Software Development, Data Analysis, Data Governance and/or Data Management
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • High level of comfort with technology
  • Relational Database knowledge, SQL
  • Experience in Data Visualization


Preferred Skills:


  • Familiarity with Vail Resorts and its operations is helpful
  • Familiarity with Master Data Services is helpful
  • Familiarity with Python or R is helpful
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban/SAFe is helpful
  • Familiarity with process engineering is helpful
  • Familiarity with Atlassian products (Confluence, Jira) is helpful
  • Familiarity with Alteryx is helpful
  • Familiarity with Tableau is helpful
