Summary of Job:


Vail Resorts paid media team is a global leader in data-driven programmatic media. Through our Brand Trading Desk we leverage extensive 1st and 2nd party data, machine learning, dynamic creative, and sophisticated trading strategies to procure high quality inventory.  Vail Resorts was recently cited as one of the most innovative companies in the world by Fast Company for our data-driven marketing.

The Director, Paid Media will be responsible for day-to-day management of the Paid Media team and will evolve and operationalize our media vision. This position will oversee a team of seven including media strategists, operations staff, as well as our agency partners & vendors.




  • Drive the long term strategic vision of the Vail Resorts paid media technology platform
  • Integrate media into our Marketing Automation Platform
  • Evolve multi-touch attribution capabilities to understand what actually motivates customer behavior.
  • Reimagine the architecture of programmatic media to support journey/trigger based media, and dynamic creative optimization.
  • Oversee, manage, and provide day-to-day leadership of paid media function at Vail Resorts. 
  • Drive strategy, planning, buying agenda across the enterprise to maximize paid media efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strategy – Lead the creation and implement paid media road map, guiding principles, and strategic guidance related to paid media in order to drive the achievement of Vail Resorts revenue goals.
  • Planning – Manage & oversee Vail Resorts paid media planning to maximize portfolio management, and efficiencies.
  • Buying – Manage & oversee VR buying to maximize effectiveness, optimization, and test/learn strategies.
  • Trade Desk – Oversee operation of our Brand Trading Desk
  • Development executive & stakeholder presentations of media vision, strategy and results.
  • Analytics – Oversee the development and delivery of media research and analytics that will inform paid media strategy, planning and buying.
  • Development – Be self-aware and emotionally intelligent to convey and exemplify the Vail Resorts standard of leadership. Consistently be looking to develop oneself as a leader and continually improve themselves and their peers through candid feedback and continual self-evaluation.   • Oversee relationship and management fee/structure negotiation with media buying/planning agency partners, including ancillary research projects, media testing and identifying new and emerging opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned


 Minimum Qualifications


·       Bachelors degree in related field

·       10+ years of paid media experience in various forms of media

·       3+ years’ experience planning/buying on DSP, working with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data sets.

·       3+ years’ programmatic buying experience.

·       5+ years’ experience with media analytics & research.

·       5+ years leading and managing direct reports.

·       MS Office, Strong EXCEL & PPT Skills

·       Ad Serving Software with Dynamic Creative Optimization

·       Demand Side Platform (DSP) – Digital media trading desk.


Preferred Skills


·       Experience with a DMP (Data Management Platform)

·       Experience working with multi-touch attribution modeling.

·       Portfolio Management of Paid Media for a large brand.

·       Experience leveraging CRM & 1st Party Data to drive paid media efficiency & effectiveness.

·       Experience leveraging Marketing Automation Platform (MAP) to drive paid media efficiency & effectiveness
