Vail Resorts is looking to hire a Director of Marketing Analytics to lead our Cross-sell analytics team, which is responsible for marketing and financial analyses to support revenue growth strategies, in-season execution, and financial budget planning for the Ski/Ride School and Rental businesses. In addition, the role will support strategic planning for our Cross sell businesses and other priority strategic initiatives.

The mission of the Marketing Analytics team is to leverage Vail Resorts’ proprietary guest data to generate actionable insights that unlock value for the business. The team is at the center of insight-driven strategic decision making across the entire enterprise and is a key strategic partner of each key Line of Business (including Season Pass, Paid Lift Tickets, Ski/Ride School, Rental etc).



The primary purpose of the Director of Cross-sell Analytics will be two–fold: (1) Leverage a data-driven approach to analyze business performance of our Ski/Ride School and Rental guest population, and (2) work closely within the analytics team and cross-functional leaders to ensure the success of strategic analytics projects for go to market execution. 

  • Work closely with Marketing leadership to drive Ski/Ride School and Rental guest and revenue growth
  • Lead a team of analysts to understand the underlying drivers of business performance as it relates to both known and new guests
  • Own annual budgeting process (in partnership with Finance) and subsequent in-season weekly reporting updates to leadership
  • Coordinate engagement between business leaders, channel leads, data science and IT teams to ensure that we are collectively solving key business needs and driving impactful outcomes (e.g. Guest Lifetime Value, targeted promotions)
  • Manage the feedback loop to continuously improve the Analytics team modeling efforts to drive continued business impact

This role will lead a team of 3 analysts.  This Director role must be a respected strategic partner to key leaders within marketing lines of business and support functions, demonstrating the ability to drive the consumption and adoption of insights throughout the enterprise. In addition, this role will be responsible for demonstrating strong leadership capabilities to produce and develop great talent within the organization.



  • [Analytics] Leverage a strong analytic skill set to effectively navigate a large and complex database, use a hypothesis-driven approach to prioritize key analyses, and ultimately uncover impactful insights regarding the drivers of the business for our New Guest population
  • [Communication] Translate detailed analytic output into clear, concise, and articulate executive summaries for consumption by the CMO, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors
  • [Leadership] Demonstrate strong leadership through the robust development of talent on the analytics team, showing high emotional intelligence and self-awareness of how actions impact the team and stakeholders, showing ambition to overcome obstacles, and the learning agility to tackle and solve new and increasingly complex problems
  •  [Partnership] Partner with cross-functional teams across Marketing and Operations (Ski School Directors, Vail Retail & Rental Ops) to provide analytical input on key drivers of our business performance
  •  [Process management] Demonstrate the ability to coordinate cross-functional efforts to drive real business impact e.g. annual budgeting process with Finance partners



  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (Finance, Business, Economics, Marketing, Mathematics, or Engineering) required
  • Very strong quantitative skills with demonstrated success in analytical roles
  • 5+ years of experience applying analytics to strategic business problems, management consulting experience
  • 2+ years of experience with data visualization; experience with visualization tools like Tableau or similar preferred
  • Strong organizational, leadership and project management skills are essential. Must be able to lead a large team, think strategically, and handle multiple projects at one time 
  • Broad marketing knowledge and demonstrated success using disparate consumer data to improve marketing decision-making on a large scale. 
  • Demonstrated success summarizing complex concepts and insights to senior leadership within an organization in a succinct, visual, and compelling fashion.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication, adjusting message to audience.  Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have demonstrated success developing relationships across an organization and influencing outside reporting lines
  • Highly collaborative approach and open communication style
  • Hospitality or travel industry experience helpful but not required


The budgeted range starts at $125,500 - $180,000 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
