Corporate Communications Director  

As a member of the Public Affairs and Sustainability team, the Corporate Communications Director will be responsible for helping the business achieve its strategic goals by managing public affairs and crisis communications.  This person will help navigate critical business opportunities and issues that arise, create and execute thoughtful plans to manage each issue with appropriate internal stakeholders, and oversee and implement the communication about these issues through internal and external communications channels.  


  • Responsible for proactively and reactively strengthening, enhancing and protecting the company’s image and reputation among key external audiences;
  • Oversee planning and perform execution of communications for crises and issues affecting the company, including those that involve:
    • State/Federal legislative and regulatory matters
    • Resort community issues
    • Other issues that attract local resort and regional or national interest involving government and regulatory matters, and important community and environmental issues;
  • Responsible for writing communications to execute strategy;
  • This position will lead ongoing crisis preparedness. They will work collaboratively with other communications and public affairs team members to ensure an integrated strategic communications plan, as well as with other key functions: investor relations, marketing communications, human resources, legal and regulatory affairs, government affairs and community relations;
  • Create template plan for execution of communication strategy when issues arise;
  • Ability to spearhead urgent and crisis communications situations, which includes developing strategic internal and external communications plans designed to mitigate challenging issues, creating messaging, building internal consensus around the communications approach and messaging, executing crisis plans and serving as a media spokesperson representing the organization;
  • Create strategy for and implement regular media communications in resort communities as it relates to public affairs issues and crises;
  • Build relationships with local community media outlets and PIOs for the various local government entities;
  • Proactively scan the landscape to identify potential issues before they become a crisis and create strategic recommendations for senior leadership in how to address them.


  • 8+ years’ experience in strategic issues communication and management
  • Clear, concise  and strong communicator
  • Ability to manage and influence top leaders at the company
  • Very strong writing skills
  • Strong and open leadership style
  • Demonstrate an ability to execute needed communications with tight timelines

 Preferred Skills

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Applies systems thinking to generate new thoughts and opportunities; has ability to build on strategic and innovative thoughts/ideas.
  • Demonstrates strong execution of multiple, overlapping projects.
  • Excellent ability to draft communications on variety of topics.
  • Continuously adapts to changes and effectively navigates through ambiguity; decides and acts without having the picture totally defined; appropriately changes one’s strategy in response to new information.
  • Drives for results – makes things happen and conveys a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrates project/program management and analytical skills with the ability to identify and understand complex problems, make decisions, create plans and solutions, and take action.
  • Effectively manages stakeholders.
  • Experience with all forms of external communications channels, especially news media and social media.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with adaptability to work with people from various cultures and areas of the business; builds and maintains highly effective working relationships; has a comprehensive and well-developed network.
  • Works effectively at the Executive level and with leadership teams across the organization.
  • Demonstrates strong business and financial acumen.
