Corporate Communications Manager – Job Description/Listing


Summary of Job

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, the Corporate Communications Manager will be assist in developing and executing a strategy to shape, promote and protect the Company’s reputation. The role’s responsibilities will include development of proactive messaging on the company’s culture and thought leadership, management of crisis communications, and positioning of enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and announcements. 


The successful candidate will be a driven, highly resourceful individual who has the analytical skills to manage the corporate reputation strategy, the interpersonal skills to make meaningful connections across the organization, and the project management skills to effectively execute enterprise-wide initiatives and change.



In this role, you will support and work with the Director of Communications to:

  • Build Our Reputation
    • Proactively and reactively strengthen, enhance and protect the company’s image and reputation among key audiences;
    • Create thoughtful strategic plans for reputation promotion and management by building alignment with key internal stakeholders;
    • Manage and execute strategic plans for company-wide initiatives, products and announcements;
    • Draft messaging, talking points, press releases and other materials as part of the Corporate reputation strategy and for company-wide initiatives
    • Effectively utilize content-driven storytelling and media relationships to secure high-quality earned media coverage that differentiates Vail Resorts as a leader;
  • Manage Crises
    • Proactively identify potential crises before they arise and collaborate with Director to create strategic recommendations for senior leadership in how to address them;
    • Develop and execute crisis communication plans, including those that involve:
      • Resort community issues
      • State/federal legislative and regulatory matters
      • Any other issues that attract significant external interest
  • Strategist and Collaborator
    • Influence and collaborate with other teams across brands and regions to build alignment of messaging and goals, and to ensure integrated, strategic communications across all areas of the business;
    • Draft effective, well-written communications to execute corporate communications strategy;
  • Company Representative    
    • When requested, serve as a media spokesperson representing the organization.




  • 4+ years’ experience in reputation management and strategic issues communication and management
  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience with all forms of external communications channels, especially news media and social media
  • Clear and concise communicator with excellent writing skills
  • Strong and open leadership style
  • Ability to execute needed communications with tight timelines
