Under the supervision of the department manager, this position will be responsible for the oversight of daily operations and specialized grounds maintenance projects year round.  Skilled and experienced in grounds maintenance and light equipment operations.  This position will provide training, support, guidance and feedback to seasonal staff concerning expectations, work procedures and performance.  

 

Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides day-to-day work direction and leadership to team members; Leads Morning Meetings when manager is unable to
  • Safely and efficiently operate all equipment used by the base ops team including but not limited to skid steers, air break trucks power tools, UTVs, mulchers, chain saws, lawn mowers, forklifts, plow/sand spreader trucks, snow blowers
    • Experience with heavy equipment such as front end loader, back hoe and dump trucks is preferred but not required.  Ability and desire to learn within 6 months of hire is a must. 
  • Ability to train others in equipment, internal and external guest service standards and safety guidelines.  Adheres, models and enforces department policies, procedures and safety expectations
  • Leads environmental and sustainability efforts at Breckenridge Ski Resort.  Including but not limited to:
    • Coordinates with other departments and outside agencies as needed with training and transportation on waste and recycling programs
    • Provides recommendations to more senior management on environmental concerns/issues
  • Performs all tasks for which the department is responsible, while leading the team to completing work projects up to brand standards and expectations.  Tasks vary based on the time of year.  Including but not limited to:
    • Monitor, maintain, sort and transport of all base area Recycling & Trash
    • Overall cleanliness, appearance and flow of all base areas in all seasons
    • Responsibility for maintenance of base areas and all within it: ski and bike racks, benches, signage, pathways, trash cans, signage etc.
    • Providing safe entry to the Ski Resort for internal and external guests
    • Winter: Snow and ice removal; Summer: Landscaping
    • May perform manual labor
  • Consistently provides a professional experience when handling any internal or external guest requests
  • Is an in-the-field extension of the manager of guidance and inspiration for front line employees to achieve department mission:
  • To strive for the beautification of all outdoor areas while providing and maintaining a clean, safe and sustainable

The budgeted range starts at $17.50.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
