Job Summary:

The Manager will be accountable for seasonal ongoing operational and administrative oversight of Hiking Center activities through business process management and employee leadership. They will provide direct guidance for their activities and direct report, while providing general oversight of all activities during their Manager on Duty shifts. They will partner with other mountain operations departments to ensure a seamless guest experience. The Manager will lead the implementation of activities operating procedures, ensuring exceptional service delivery, while ensuring a safe operating environment for guests and staff.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Daily operational oversight of multiple activities ensuring a safe experience for both guests and employees.
  • Monitor and audit activity training processes and forms, Coordinate with Lead to lead individual activity trainings. Create, distribute and train staff with Hiking Center Manual.  
  • Develop, maintain, and audit new program initiatives, operational procedures and paperwork. Audit and assist with the maintenance of operating procedures, inspection logs and safety standards for employees and guests. Support initiatives through leadership, resort, and BCRC direction.
  • Lead daily department meetings, address operations and guest service needs by setting clear goals and objectives for staff
  • Ensure continuing leadership and skill development feedback and exposure for staff
  • Responsible for guest and employee safety and guest safety guiding awareness of compliance with state, federal, and industry regulatory operating requirements (ie. USFS, OSHA, ANSI, ASTM, ACCT, IAAPA, etc.)
  • Collective oversight and coordination between different activities to meet operational goals related to staffing and expense management that matches revenue goals
  • Oversight of department processes, checklist completion, collection and audit
  • Partner with all summer operations departments to react to operational needs due to increased/decreased guest flow, weather or operational modification
  • Work with staff to perform progressive coaching and discipline conversations with staff according to protocol
  • Provide a connection with HR to ensure employee matters are handled appropriately in a timely manner in the department
  • Perform front line duties as concierge and guide for various hiking products and mountain biking products.


Job Requirements:


  • High school or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years previous leadership experience in dynamic operational setting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Cash handling, guest service, outdoor labor intensive experience
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience as a hiking guide
  • Experience with staff management, guest service recovery, time and labor, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting


  • Post-secondary education
  • Experience leading emergency response
  • Experience in guest service role relating to outdoor recreation, amusement or hospitality operations industries
  • Spanish fluency

The budgeted range starts at $45,000 - $55,250.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
