Job Summary

As a Terrain Park Team Lead, you will help to lay the groundwork for an epic ski season by helping develop the best possible terrain parks to industry standards! You will be striving for quality, safety, and efficiency to ensure an exceptional experience for our guests by sharing contagious enthusiasm for the industry and igniting that passion within the resort. The Terrain Parks Team Lead will produce and maintain an exceptional terrain park during all snow and weather conditions to the highest standard possible. Terrain Parks Team Lead will inspire, motivate and lead the terrain park crew members to truly offer the experience of a lifetime and bring a deep passion of terrain park knowledge and skill sets to the Afton Terrain Park crew and mountain!

The Terrain Parks Team Lead will assist with day-to-day operations in the safe maintenance of a suitable terrain park. Team Lead will be able to shape and install features by hand, and have a willingness to learn. In this job you will be working outdoors and be exposed to the elements. This important role is critical to getting the ski season up and running, as well as maintained throughout the season to ensure a fun a great season ahead!


  • Work closely and effectively to communicate with the Snow Surfaces Manager directly, and members of the Terrain Park Team to maintain the terrain park throughout the season on a daily basis
  • Be responsible for development, construction, maintenance, and repair of all features along with providing grooming lists to present to Snow Surfaces Manager or Mountain Operations Manager to ensure product for guests is to the best possible standards
  • Lead as a model of Terrain Parks etiquette and safety awareness to teach and guide other team members as well as guests to create the safest terrain park environment possible
  • Assist with all daily needs of the Terrain Park department; responsible for opening and/or closing procedures, schedule terrain park crew members and ensure staff are in on scheduled shifts and working on a daily basis
  • Inspect all terrain park features through patrolling and testing in compliance with safety guidelines and providing the safest possible product for guests
  • Assist in preparing Terrain Park for special events, placing banners, rope lines, closures etc.
  • Responsible for maintenance and safety of all terrain park features, signs, promotional items, boundaries, pods and resort ropes.
  • Be responsible for daily terrain park operations in the absence of Snow Surfaces Manager, assuring a safe and efficiently run terrain park on a daily basis to provide the best possible guest experience


  • Provide exceptional guest service
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions on the mountain 
  • Operate tow rope as needed
  • Provide superior service to our customers (internal and external) at all times.  Advise and assist guests by interacting and responding to all guests in a courteous, efficient manner.
  • Contribute feedback on terrain park design, layout, fabrication and maintenance with a “can do attitude”
  • Assist and collaborate with snowcat operators during Terrain Park builds & feature installation, with the guidance of Snow Surfaces Manager
  • Responsible for guest relations and education on safety and riding etiquette in terrain park for a safe and overall great experience for guests
  • Assist Ski Patrol with injuries and ensure compliance with all risk management, health and safety protocols
  • Motivate other crew members and teach skills to crew members to keep features maintained throughout the day with to the best possible quality with other crew members
  • Keen attention to detail and a fine eye for grade and level features along with flow of feature set up that creates a fun and exciting terrain park to ride or ski
  • Safety oriented to help with progression of new or beginner skiers and snowboarders
  • Keep Terrain Park clean of any trash or debris and esthetically as housekept as possible with other terrain park crew members
  • Keep track of tools used to maintain Terrain Park and that they are well taken care of and stored properly and ready for use everyday
  • Work directly with Snow Surfaces Manager and communicate all needs
  • Retain crew members and offer the ability for the crew members to learn and understand skill sets to make every crew member a valuable team player
  • Work alone with little to no supervision to efficiently and effectively operate and maintain terrain parks on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must be at least 18 years of age – Preferred
  • High School graduation or equivalent – Preferred
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year-Required
  • Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required.
  • Must either snowboard or ski with advanced ability as determined by management. Skiing/Riding requirements include the ability to ski/ride 80% of features in the terrain parks – Required.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well with others with a professional manner-Preferred
  • Physical strength and ability to: work outside in rapidly changing winter environment for long periods of time; shovel and rake snow surfaces; walk, kneel, stoop, bend frequently; lift up to 75 lbs.-Required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form including communicating on the mountain radio. -Required
  • Previous Terrain Park experience – Required
  • Have a passion for the terrain parks and the products you are building and maintaining - Preferred 


  • Ability to walk up and down parks in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to, and sometimes more than, 50lbs.
  • Ability to Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to ski/ride outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to be ready, fit for work.
  • Ability to work with power tools (cordless drills, grinders, etc.
  • Lifting, Standing, Walking, Climbing/Balance Frequency: 2/3 of the time
  • Sitting, Reaching, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling Frequency: 1/3
  • Ability to understand how to use straps and or chains, clevises and other securing devices


The budgeted range starts at $21.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
