Summary of Job: The lead line cook position for Paul's and The Crest Bar is fast – paced, requiring a wide variety of skills. Both kitchens are open putting personal appearance, cleanliness, attention to detail, and communication skills at a premium in a high volume, guest service environment. The lead line cook is responsible for preparing food items from the menu. He/she is also responsible for cleaning and maintaining the station while practicing strong safety, sanitation, and organizational skills. The bar cook works as a team member, follows all the safety procedures, and must have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Ability to complete given assignments in a fast - paced environment.
  • Follows recipes, controls, portion, and presentation specifications as set by Afton Alps.
  • Prepare dishes for costumers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Communicate with supervisor, wait staff, and other co-workers as well as guests.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in the kitchen, service line, and surrounding areas.
  • Prepare food while demonstrating safe knife handling skills and use of a cutting-glove.
  • Maintain safe food handling, and proper sanitation of work space.
  • Ability to stock coolers and freezers, rotating product to ensure freshness.
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of the products that is served.
  • Track and report any food waste.
  • Handle, store and rotate all the products properly.
  • Prepare dishes for costumers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Maintain and clean kitchen and equipment
  • Must practice good personal hygiene.
  • Ability to read and manage food printer tickets and communicate orders with co-workers
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally to staff and Guests.
  • Adhere to all policies, rules, regulations in food service.
  • Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations of Vail Resorts and Afton Alps.
  • Create and maintain a productive and safe work environment, including implementing and retaining all company mandated safety-related training and assessments.
  • Develop, adhere to, and role model the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum two years of food and beverage experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen areas and food quality standards.
  • Certified Slip Resistant shoes are required prior starting work.  Shoes must be provided by the employee.
  • Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.  Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required.
