Job Summary:

The Assistant Buyer/Merchandise Manager serves as both a support and developmental position within the merchant team.  It is specifically responsible for supporting the buying team and partnering with cross functional teams to execute the merchandising strategy that meets or exceeds financial goals for their respective departments.  In addition, this position provides the training and education to develop their career in merchandising.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Assist manager with the implementation of category/company initiatives.
  • Participate in the evaluation of sales trends, and the implementation of sales growth programs
  • Develop understanding of financial reporting metrics including sales, margin and inventory turn.
  • Assist in the life cycle management of product categories (Markdowns, Stock balancing, and Reorders)
  • Assist in assortment planning, PO execution, and vendor communication
  • Collaborates with Merchant team and cross functional teams to help drive opportunities and sell through
  • Assist in the communication of category initiatives to vendors, operational teams and other stakeholders
  • Opportunity to attend local trade shows and vendor line reviews as approved by manager
  • Work in stores (as needed) to help with merchandising and sales.
  • Develop individual Leadership through Vail Resorts sponsored internal training/leadership development programs.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant Retail/Rental experience with: Retail/Rental applications, inventory management, merchandising systems, Store sales and operations, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Communicate fluently with co-workers and guests in accurate spoken and written English
  • Clear understanding of basic financial measures
  • Attention to detail with sound analytical skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work load and timeline management

Preferred:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excel including pivot tables, advanced formulas and data manipulation.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills

 

 The budgeted range starts at $21.59-$26.99.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
